Afyonkarahisar Mayor Mehmet Zeybek talked about the investments made in Afyonkarahisar, what happened during his service period and what works he will undertake in the new year in the program called Dobra Dobra on Kanal 3 TV.

Mayor Zeybek was the guest of the live broadcast of the program 'Dobra Dobra', prepared and presented by Mehmet Emin Güzbey, broadcast on Channel 3 screens. Our President, who made statements about the agenda, talked about the investments he made in Afyon, and answered the questions. In the first minutes of the broadcast, where the visit to Uzbekistan was discussed, the advantages of Afyonkarahisar and Samarkand being sister cities, and the highlights of the visit were discussed.

Expressing that they want to strengthen commercial relations, especially bilateral relations, President Zeybek talked about his contacts in Uzbekistan. He announced that our businessmen will hold meetings with Sister City Samarkand that will contribute to the trade potential in many fields, especially marble and agriculture. Zeybek President; “Not only in Tashkent, wherever I see a novelty, it draws my attention. I'm trying to think about why not implement it in our city and try to do something. I examined the applications on the roads and the studies of urbanism. I did research to put it into practice in our own city. I invited our businessmen from Tashkent, Bukhara and Samarkand to Afyonkarahisar. Our aim is to ensure that investments are made in our city,” he said.

INTEGRATED WITH AFRAY SPEED TRAIN PROJECT

President Mehmet Zeybek stated that nearly 3 projects have been implemented in the program in which the things that have been done in Afyonkarahisar in 40 and a half years were discussed. Zeybek President; “During elections, candidates come out, promising to do certain things. We promised 37 projects. We have realized 30 of these projects. After being elected, we brought in 40 different projects that will add value to our city. We have invested 1 quadrillion 800 trillion since we took office. Our first project was AFRAY. We decided to build a suburban line in order to connect our students in the Erenler region with the city. We were going to build the stations where the stops were made. As the Municipality, the project was approved after the negotiations. I said that it would be most appropriate for the AKU Campus entrance to be the main gate so that the line could be used efficiently. As a result of the consultations, we took the parallel road from the dormitories area to the minibus stop next to the campus entrance. We had a project to make the other station in front of Bacım Sultan Yurdu, to contribute to our students. In the conditions of that year, we wanted to meet the energy consumption of 7 liras in a round trip, free of charge, as the Municipality, without reflecting this on the students. The company that won the tender went into liquidation, the tender was held again. Later, when the high-speed train project emerged, the Ministry of Transport said that the AFRAY project was also included in the High Speed Train project. In the meeting held with TCDD Transportation General Directorate last week, we received the promise that the foundation of the project will be laid. The company that won the tender is doing a serious job. Hopefully, in the coming weeks, we will meet with our TCDD General Manager to lay the foundation and to start the work as soon as possible.

President Mehmet Zeybek also stated that the project was misunderstood and that there were different agreements on the subject and said, “Our citizens understood it as a light rail system in the city center. We did not have such a word. There have been misunderstandings about the project. Officials said our streets are not suitable for light rail. It is a project that will increase the proximity and participation of our students to the city.”

HISTORICAL BUILDINGS ARE RESTORED

Stating that the historical buildings of Afyonkarahisar were restored and brought back to Afyonkarahisar, Mayor Zeybek said, “We will open every 15 days. We will open our completed investments to the use of our people.” He announced that the place used as the old station building, especially the Izmir Station renovation project, will also serve as the Archery and Youth Center.

WORK TO RELIEVE CITY TRAFFIC

President Zeybek, who stated that work is being done to make changes in the routes in order to find a solution to the traffic problem in Afyonkarahisar; “As Opium, there are 5 main arteries. Mecidiye, Gazligol Avenue, Ordu Boulevard, Ambaryolu and Kurtuluş Avenue. Streets where construction is completely finished. We cannot widen the road here. It is a province with the highest number of vehicles in proportion to its population. Public transport is not preferred much. If we are tradesmen, we want to put our car in front of the shop. There are also single-car crossings due to vehicle parking. We brought our teachers from Kayseri and Istanbul and had them work. Let's think of Mecidiye Street as the entrance to the city, Gazlıgöl Street as the exit from the center, one way. We thought that let's organize our Ordu Boulevard as both entrance and exit to the center, Ambaryolu as exit from the city and Kurtuluş Street as entrance to the center. We did the work. We're going to start testing it this month. I also talked to our citizens, we have no other option. We think it can be a palliative solution,” he said.

“NO OBSTACLES REGARDING THE TELEPHONE PROJECT”

One of the vision projects of Mayor Zeybek, Cable Car and Kale Landscaping investment was also among the topics discussed. Zeybek President explained the latest status of the works and emphasized that there are no obstacles related to the project. “We made the tender, the site was delivered, the excavations started, our Museum Directorate carried out work on the castle hill. Some of the findings were examined by the Board of Monuments. At the moment, there are no obstacles to the completion of the project. The company that won the tender buys all of the machinery and engine cabin parts from Switzerland. It was stated that everything is ready. This week, the work of the Museum Directorate is completed. The foundations of the feet will be excavated, the poles will be erected, and the assembly will begin. It was stated that efforts will be made to complete the work at the beginning of May. Before the elections, poles will be erected, ropes will be stretched and cabins will be installed. He summarized the latest situation in the project with the statements that I will also share, "They didn't believe it, but we did it".
