Ankara Metropolitan Municipality ASKİ General Directorate continues to strike the capital's infrastructure, sewerage and rainwater line problems, which have been neglected for years and turned into gangrene. 1,5 kilometers of the 110-kilometer line, which will deliver drinking water from the İvedik Treatment Plant to Polatlı and provide uninterrupted and healthy water to 65 million people, has been completed. ASKİ General Manager Erdoğan Öztürk said, “We are about to reach our goal. Our project will be completed at the end of 2023," he said.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality and its subsidiary ASKİ's “Ivedik-Temelli-Polatlı Drinking Water Transmission Line, Warehouse, Pumping Stations and Facilities Construction Project” has come to an end. As of January 23, 2023, approximately 110 kilometers (65 thousand 64 meters) of the 694 kilometer main transmission line has been completed, and work continues on the last 45 kilometers.

ASKİ General Manager Erdoğan Öztürk, together with his technical team, supervised the ongoing works on Cengiz Aytmatov Street, one of the most central places in Batıkent. Providing information about the works here, Öztürk said, “We are now approaching the end of our drinking water line, which will benefit approximately 1,5 million people, including Sincan, Temelli and Polatlı, from Ankara central İvedik Drinking Water Treatment Plants. We had only one goal; Before the completion of 2023, this construction work, which has been missed and expected for years, is completed and presented to our people.

3 SEPARATE TEAM WORK AT 3 POINTS ON THE STREET

Expressing that they prioritize worker health and work safety during excavation and construction works, Öztürk said:

“Our large-scale lines always pass through central points in the city. We are working diligently without causing much inconvenience to our people, without disrupting traffic and without causing environmental pollution. We are about to reach our destination; Our project will be completed at the end of 2023. When we say the density of the network that has been laid for years, the developing population, and the new settlements, we have difficulties especially at certain points. In order not to harm the system, we proceed very carefully, especially in the city centers, by protecting the existing lines. We made certain plans and coincided the work in the center with the midterm holidays of the schools. In order not to disturb our citizens, we employ different teams at many points on such main routes. For example, 3 different teams are working at 3 points on the street we are on so that we can complete the work as soon as possible.”
