WatchGuard, a global leader in integrated cybersecurity, has announced important data on cyber attacks that occurred in Turkey in 2022. Data obtained by the WatchGuard Threat Lab reports 2022 malware attacks in 61, an increase of 1.015.810% compared to the previous year. WatchGuard Turkey and Greece Country Manager Yusuf Evmez pointed out that there has been a serious increase in cyber attacks against Turkey and emphasized that companies and individual users should be careful against attacks.

According to the report prepared by the WatchGuard Threat Center with data from UTM device Fireboxes, in 2022, there were 2.791 malware attacks every day, 116 every hour, and 2 malware attacks every minute in Turkey. According to Yusuf Evmez, who stated that most of the attacks were malware caused by MSIL.Mensa malware and CVE-2018-0802 Microsoft Office Memory Corruption vulnerability, it is extremely important to take necessary precautions against malware attacks, which increased by 61% in a year. .

While there were 2022 malware attacks in 1.015.810, 5% of these attacks were zero-day attacks. Stating that today's traditional protection methods cannot provide sufficient defense against these attacks that cause great damage to information systems and sensitive data, Yusuf Evmez suggested that companies use security devices and software that can use new technologies such as machine learning.

Today, while many institutions move their data to the networks, cyber attackers who take advantage of this situation and want to obtain the data infiltrate the networks and organize powerful attacks. Pointing out that network attacks decreased by 2022% to 78 in 10.401 and that the majority of these attacks were realized as "WEB Apache Struts Wildcard Matching OGNL Code Execution", Yusuf Evmez emphasized that cybercriminals aiming to enter networks continue to work to achieve their goals.

There are many attacks against network security in Turkey. WatchGuard Turkey and Greece Sales Engineer Alper Onarangil states that one of the reasons for this is the easy access of hackers to password databases via the Dark Web, and says that the most important reason for the deficiency in this situation is password security, which is among the cyber security measures. Saying that companies and individual users must use secure and complex passwords, Onarangil stated that the security of passwords is provided at a high level with the multi-factor authentication solution AuthPoint. He stated that it helps to keep accounts safe with a quick alert system if it is offered for sale on the website.
