The volume of goods sent by rail in China last year reached 4,7 billion 3 million tons with an annual increase of 900 percent. According to the information obtained from the Chinese State Railway Group, the number of passengers transported by rail across the country in 2022 reached 1 billion 610 million.
On the other hand, freight train services between China and Europe increased by 9 percent annually to 16 thousand, and the number of containers shipped increased by 10 percent to 1 million 600 thousand TEUs.
The number of containers sent within the scope of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, which aims to integrate the western region of China into the global economy, increased by 18,5% annually to 756 thousand TEU.
On the first anniversary of the opening of the China-Laos railway, 8 million 500 thousand passengers and 11 million 200 thousand tons of goods were transported.
This year, the number of passengers to be transported by rail is expected to reach 67,6 billion 2 million with an annual increase of 690 percent, and the amount of cargo is expected to reach 1,8 billion 3 million tons with an increase of 970 percent.
