Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank said, “The Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) and TÜBİTAK BİLGEM will cooperate in the testing and certification processes of all smart devices sold in Turkey and connected to the internet. It will pave the way for our citizens to use smart electronic devices in their homes safely and with peace of mind.” said.

Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) and TÜBİTAK Informatics and Information Security Advanced Technologies Research Center (BİLGEM) signed a cooperation protocol for Cyber ​​Security Test, Audit and Certification Activities.

In the presence of Minister Varank, the signatures of the protocol were signed by TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal and TSE President Mahmut Sami Şahin scored.

Contribution to economic development

Within the scope of the protocol, both institutions will develop joint cooperation models and create projects in the internationally valid cyber security tests and certification of all kinds of commercial devices and industrial systems connected to the Internet, such as the European Union (EU). It will provide the testing and certification services required to open up to the foreign market in the field of cyber security at more affordable prices.

Cyber ​​security testing, inspection and certification and service requests will be received from abroad, thus ensuring foreign currency inflow to Turkey. Contribution will be made to overcome the technical obstacles in front of the product export of domestic and national producers.

TSE certificate for smart devices

Minister Varank said that while supporting Turkey's developments in information technologies and digital transformation, they are working towards the goal of becoming an information society.

Noting that the signed cooperation protocol will contribute to Turkey's digital transformation and the development of domestic and national manufacturers, Minister Varank said:

“Our friends signed an important cooperation in terms of industry in Turkey, Turkish Standards Institute and TÜBİTAK BİLGEM signed a cooperation protocol. You know, TSE carries out the tests and certifications of all smart devices that are connected to the internet and sold in Turkey within the framework of this cooperation protocol. It will cooperate with BİLGEM in the TSE certification processes and will certify that these devices are safe by using their infrastructure, experience and experience.”

Minister Varank stated that he is a close follower of every domestic and national issue that shows sensitivity in Turkey's digital transformation and said, “Today, we live in a world where everything turns digital and connects to the internet. Now, our refrigerators, washing machines, smart vacuums in our homes all work by connecting to the internet. It is absolutely necessary to test how safe the products we buy are.” said.

Stating that TSE, as the authorized institution, carries out these testing and certification processes, Minister Varank said, “If there is a device that we do not see fit, it cannot be sold in Turkey. Since we are internationally accredited, the devices we have certified are also valid in the world and can be sold in the world. Here, TÜBİTAK BİLGEM will work with TSE in this process with the experience it has gained and the infrastructures it has established so far. In this way, it will pave the way for our citizens to use smart electronic devices in their homes safely and with peace of mind.” used his statements.
