United Nations Declares 30 March as 'International Zero Waste Day'

Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum made a statement by publishing a video on the decision of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly to declare March 30 as the "International Zero Waste Day". In his video message, the Minister Institution declared, “With the decision taken by the UN General Assembly, 30 March was declared as International Zero Waste Day. With the decision taken by the UN General Assembly, 30 March will be celebrated all over the world as 'International Zero Waste Day' every year. The 'Zero Waste Movement', launched in 2017 under the auspices of Esteemed Emine Erdoğan, continues to make our country and nation proud. Today, our vision of Zero Waste, the biggest environmental movement of the Turkish Century, has become a world brand.” used his statements.

Minister Kurumi said, “Today, we are excited to live a historical and meaningful day for our nature, which we will leave to our young people, our common home, the future of our world, Turkey's future, and the guarantee of our future. The UN General Assembly declared 30 March as the 'International Zero Waste Day'. The 'Zero Waste Movement', which was launched in 2017 under the auspices of Esteemed Emine Erdoğan, continues to make our country and our nation proud, both with its contribution to our country's environment, nature and economy, and with the international awards it has received. Dear Madam, last September, she met with the UN Secretary General and signed the 'Global Zero Waste Goodwill Declaration' within the scope of combating the climate crisis. The 'Zero Waste' resolution submitted by Turkey to the United Nations within the scope of combating climate change and sustainable development plans was accepted at the General Assembly. As a result of this decision supported by 105 countries, the International Zero Waste Day will be celebrated on 30 March every year from now on all over the world. Thus, the Zero Waste Movement, which is the roof of all our environmental projects, has now been supported by the UN General Assembly decision that it is a global environmental movement.”
