In the 130th issue of TAI magazine, it was stated that studies are being carried out to sign new sales contracts for the supply of ANKA UAV, which was developed with domestic facilities, to 2 undisclosed African countries. In addition, it was reported in the magazine that ANKA UAV was supplied to an African country.
In this context, TAI took part in the International Aviation and Defense Fair (IADE) held at Tunisia Hammamet International Airport between 12-16 October 2022. At IADE 22, TAI exhibited 1/7 scale models of its platforms, as well as the ANKA UAV, which was first exported to the Tunisian Air Force last year.
ANKA was welcomed with great interest by the visitors. Tunisian Ambassador Çağlar Fahri Çakıralp and Tunisian Minister of National Defense Imed Memmich, who visited the stand at the fair where many military and state delegations from regional countries such as Thailand, Philippines and Malaysia participated, received information about the platforms.
ANKA SİHA supply from Malaysia
In his statement on his Twitter account, Malaysian Defense Minister Hishammuddin Hüseyin mentioned the results of the tender opened within the scope of the needs of the Malaysian Air Force. Minister Hüseyin stated in his statement that 72 of the ATR 2 maritime patrol aircraft developed by the Italian company Leonardo will be procured for the maritime patrol aircraft.
In addition, Minister Hüseyin stated that 3 units / systems will be purchased from the UAV system produced by TAI within the scope of the supply of medium altitude long stay in the air (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicles for the Malaysian Air Force. It is known that the UAV system in question is the ANKA SİHA system.
Hishammuddin Hussein also stated that for the 2023 budget of the Malaysian Air Force, 18 billion Malaysian Ringgit will be allocated for the maintenance and modernization of the McDonnell Douglas F/A-2.4D Hornet fleet. These F/A-18Ds are being modernized at Butterworth Air Base of the Royal Malaysian Air Force.
During their visit to Turkey, Malaysian Prime Minister İsmail Sabri Yaakob in July 2022 and Malaysian King Sultan Abdullah in August 2022 visited the production facilities of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) and received information about the products produced.
