The 24th “People Should Be Remembered While They Live” award ceremony was held by the Izmir Branch of the Turkish Footballmen's Association (TÜRFAD). Izmir Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger, Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality attended the ceremony held at Selahattin Akçiçek Cultural Center with the support of Konak Municipality. Tunç Soyer, Konak Mayor Abdül Batur, Turkish Football Federation President Mehmet Büyükekşi, İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor Mustafa Öztürk, İzmir Provincial Police Chief Mehmet Şahne, Turkish Football Association General President Levent Erdoğan, İzmir Youth and Sports Provincial Director Murat Eskici, TÜRFAD Chairman Levent Erdoğan and Bahri Vreskala, Head of the Izmir Branch of the Turkish Footballmen's Association.

Governor Köşger condemned what happened in Göztepe-Altay match

Speaking at the award ceremony, İzmir Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger said that it is important to remember people while they are alive, and said, “This way, it will also motivate people who come from behind.” Governor Köşger also touched upon the events of Göztepe-Altay match last November 28 and said: “Sports is actually loyalty, brotherhood, friendship, unity and togetherness. Many values ​​such as Metin Oktay and Mustafa Denizli, raised by Izmir, the city where football was played for the first time, will be remembered with respect and love throughout history.”
