The number of passengers arriving from abroad at Sabiha Gökçen, Turkey's second largest international airport, reached 29, breaking a historical record.

With the pandemic losing its effect, the increasing demand for international travel has created a 'peak' effect with the New Year holiday. Thanks to those who want to spend their holidays in Turkey or in different countries via Istanbul, Sabiha Gökçen International Airport broke a historical record in the number of international passengers. The number of passengers arriving at Sabiha Gökçen Airport from abroad constituted the highest number of international passengers with 29 thousand 162 days before the beginning of the year.

According to the data of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure State Airports Authority (DHMI) General Directorate, Sabiha Gökçen Airport, which experienced air traffic density on 24 December 2022, reached 20 thousand 671 domestic passengers and 21 thousand 295 departing passengers. On the international lines, despite the record-breaking number of incoming passengers with 29, the number of outgoing passengers was 162. Thus, on December 26, international passenger traffic reached 582 in total, and a total of 24 passengers were served.

We had our busiest day with 24 passengers on Saturday, 29 December, when the winter season and the intensity of the beginning of the year combined. At the beginning of this year, in just three months, our international passenger rates exceeded the level of 162, when we achieved a historic peak in our performance by 2019 percent.
