By 2028German auto giant Opel has released the first images of the new Opel Astra-e. The brand with the Şimşek logo is preparing to add the all-electric version of the 2022 Golden Steering Wheel Award-winning Astra to its decades-old success story. Continuing to realize its plans to become an all-electric brand in Europe, Opel continues on its way with the fully electric version of Astra after Mokka and Corsa. The Astra, which is full of historical achievements and firsts, will go into mass production for the first time with its new generation.

Opel Astra enthusiasts will thus be able to choose from more engine alternatives than any other model with the lightning logo. In addition to highly efficient internal combustion engines, the Astra and Astra Sports Tourer are also available in electric rechargeable versions, including the top of the line Astra GSe. The battery-electric Astra-e, which can be ordered from the spring of 2023, is aimed to be put on sale in Turkey from the second half of 2023.

“We are continuing our move towards electrification without slowing down”

“The Astra-e and Astra Sports Tourer-e are true pioneers. With the new battery-electric versions of the five-door hatchback and station wagon body types, users can enjoy a comfortable, but more importantly, emission-free drive suitable for daily use. This is exactly what we mean by 'Greenovation' in transportation”, Opel CEO Florian Huettl said, “At the same time, we continue our move to switch to electric without slowing down. "The new Opel Astra-e is an important milestone for us on the path to becoming an all-electric brand in Europe."

Exciting, everyday use, zero emissions

The new Opel Astra-e and Opel Astra Sports Tourer-e promise zero emissions and an exciting driving experience. Like all Astra versions, they stand out not only with their bold and simple designs, but also with their performance. The electric motor delivers 115 kW/156 HP and 270 NM of torque. Thus, from the moment of touching the accelerator pedal, a fast take-off and an impressive acceleration experience is experienced. Also, while many other electric cars are limited to 150 km/h, the new Astra-e has a top speed of 170 km/h. Apart from that, the Astra-e user can choose between three modes, Eco, Normal and Sport, depending on driving preference.

Driving range up to 416 km

The new Astra-e offers an all-electric driving range of up to 416 km according to WLTP. Efficiency-focused engineers managed to achieve an exemplary range with a compact battery size. The new Astra-e consumes only 100 kWh of electricity per 12,7 kilometers. This average consumption makes the new Astra-e not only an excellent and efficient vehicle for everyday use, but also an ideal companion for long journeys. Astra-e can reach 100 percent battery capacity in about 80 minutes at a 30 kW direct current fast charging station. The all-electric Astra is also equipped with a three-phase 11 kW internal charger as standard for the home wall charging station.
