Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, announced that the communication sector grew by 47 percent in the third quarter of this year and the size of the sector increased to 35.1 billion liras. Noting that the number of mobile numbers transferred has reached 164,4 million, Karaismailoğlu reported that the total amount of mobile traffic is approximately 80,6 billion minutes.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu evaluated the “Turkish Electronic Communications Industry Quarterly Market Data Report” prepared by the Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTK). Karaismailoğlu stated that as of the third quarter of 3, 2022 companies authorized by ICTA have 464 authorization certificates, and announced that the net sales revenues of the operators operating in the sector increased by 840 percent in the third quarter compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 47 billion liras.

Pointing out that the number of mobile subscribers reached 90,8 million as of the third quarter, Karaismailoğlu noted that the prevalence of mobile subscribers was 107,2 percent. Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said, “We see that 83,4 million of mobile subscribers prefer 4,5G subscription, and 4,5G service constitutes 92 percent of total subscribers. The number of M2M subscribers exceeded 8,1 million. As of the third quarter of 2022, the total number of mobile numbers ported approached 164,4 million. 2,4 million fixed line number porting operations were carried out.
WE REACHED 498 THOUSAND MILES OF FIBER INFRASTRUCTURE
Noting that the number of internet subscribers continues to increase, Karaismailoğlu continued his statement as follows:
“The total number of broadband internet subscribers, of which 72,6 million are mobile, has reached 91,4 million. Compared to the previous quarter, the number of subscribers grew by 2,1 percent. The highest increase was experienced in the number of 'mobile internet' subscribers with approximately 2,5 million compared to the previous period. In the same period, we reached 498 thousand kilometers of fiber infrastructure. The number of fiber internet subscribers also increased to 5,5 million. Fixed broadband internet subscribers used an average of 243 GByte per month, mobile broadband internet subscribers used an average of 14,8 GByte per month. Compared to the previous quarter, in the third quarter of 2022, there was an increase of 2,1 percent in the monthly average usage of fixed broadband internet subscribers and 15,5 percent in the monthly average usage of mobile broadband internet subscribers.
WE TALKED OVER 80,6 BILLION MINUTES ON MOBILE PHONES
Underlining that the total amount of mobile traffic is approximately 80,6 billion minutes, Karaismailoğlu stated that the amount of fixed traffic is 1,2 billion minutes. Karaismailoğlu stated that the average monthly usage time in mobile networks is 569 minutes. Expressing that there are currently 6 authorized electronic certificate service providers in Turkey, Karaismailoğlu said, “As of the end of September 2022, these electronic certificate service providers have a total of 6,1 million electronic certificates, of which approximately 834 million electronic signatures and 6,98 thousand mobile signatures. created”.
