Gathered in Istanbul for the Development of the International Multimodal Route

The meeting on the development of the international multimodal route of Asia-Pacific countries, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Europe will be held on 21-22 December in Istanbul.

Deputy General Manager Çetin Altun, representing the General Directorate of Transport of TCDD, attended the meeting where the heads of the railway administrations of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey came together as six sided.

The meeting was also attended by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Naci Özçelik, Head of TCDD Transportation Freight Department, Uğur Taşkınsakarya, Istanbul Regional Manager, and Mehmet Uygur, Deputy Head of Strategy Development Department.

In the meeting where the results of the studies carried out so far and the reports of the responsible logistics companies were evaluated, mutual consultations were held to increase the load flow on the route.

At the meeting where the situation of continuing the same application in tariff rates was evaluated, the proposal of Georgia Railway A.Ş. regarding the issuance of a single transport document (SMGS) for container transportation on the entire route, regardless of the mode of transportation, was evaluated.

Stating that they, as TCDD Transportation, attach great importance to freight transportation by rail in Turkey at the meeting, Deputy General Manager Çetin Altun said: “Global rail freight transportation is important for both our country and the world. The railway provides a significant advantage to the logistics industry with its green environment target, targeted duration, amount of transportable cargo and economic aspects. TCDD Transportation General Directorate stands out as the locomotive of railway freight transportation in the Turkish market. For this reason, we attach great importance to the decisions to be taken and the evaluations made here.” said.

Turkmen Railways is an Important Stakeholder in the Iron Silk Road Route

TCDD Transportation Deputy General Manager Çetin Altun and Türkmenistan Demir Yolları A.Ş. Deputy Director General Dovlet Hodjamuradov will hold a bilateral meeting between 22-23 December.

Within the scope of the meeting, an Agreement on the Use of Wagons will be signed between the General Directorate of TCDD Taşımacılık AŞ and the Turkmen Railways Agency. Deputy General Manager Altun: “Turkmen Railways Management, with which we met on a common ground on the Iron Silk Road route, is an important stakeholder for our General Directorate. I believe that our bilateral meetings and cooperation on behalf of the development of our logistics sector will yield good results.” he said.
