Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality turns the food scraps it collects throughout the city into food for the feeding of street animals in the facility it has established.

Evaluating the food leftovers formed in places such as hospitals, restaurants, universities and schools in Gaziantep, the teams of the Metropolitan Municipality Natural Life Protection Department process the products they collect at the food production facility in Burç Yazıbağ.

The collected products are shredded in machines and shaped in special machines. The food, which is kept in the drying areas for 1 day, is then packaged with vacuum devices. 1 ton of food per day is left at 200 feeding points established by the Metropolitan Municipality throughout the city. Approximately 4 thousand stray animals benefit from the food every day.

“We give the foods we produce to the souls living on the street and distribute them free of charge to animal lovers”

Celal Özsoyler, Head of the Natural Life Protection Department, emphasized that they protect all the stray animals in the city in a statement about food production.

Özsoyler stated that the teams routinely leave food and water at 200 different feeding points throughout the city, and said:

“We collect the leftovers from universities, hospitals and schools and bring them to our center. Here we have established a food production facility for our dear friends. In this production facility, we first compost about 1 ton of food a day, pass it through mixing machines and shape it and take it to the drying areas. We keep it in these areas for 1 day and pack it with a vacuuming machine. We give the foods we produce to the souls living on the street and distribute them free of charge to animal lovers.”

“We both prevent waste and support living things”

Explaining that they take great care of all stray animals in the city, Özsoyler underlined that they pay attention to the feeding of animals and concluded his words as follows:

“Because the protein ratio is very high, animals love to eat it. It contains all kinds of minerals and vitamins. This work both prevents waste and, as Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality, we support all living things. As Gaziantep Metropolitan, we provide service in all 780 districts with 9 neighborhoods. We feed 4 thousand animals daily throughout Gaziantep. We check them daily.”
