Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Prof. Dr. Vahit Kirişci stated that they will reduce the import of breeding heifers to the lowest levels with investments and supports, and said, “Here, too, the biggest task falls to the breeder associations.” said. Minister Kirişci said that they will work together to produce better quality and efficient production at the Central Union of Cattle Breeders of Turkey (TDSYMB) Provincial Presidents Meeting held at the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works Meeting Hall.

Pointing out that since 2002, the share of supports in the livestock sector in agricultural support has increased from 4,4 percent to 25 percent, Kirişci emphasized that the good results of these supports have also been seen.

Kirişci also pointed out that they aim to increase productivity in cattle and increase the number of small cattle in breeding activities, and explained that the unions are the most important stakeholder and companion of the Ministry in animal breeding.

Reminding that the scope of the support has been expanded in order to accelerate the studies on breeding, Kirişci said, “It is extremely important to create registered, accurate, reliable and usable data in animal breeding. This issue should be the most basic principle of our associations. These collected data are of vital importance in terms of determining the parents of future generations and contributing to the development of the country's livestock. I know you care a lot about this issue, but I want you to show more attention and effort.” used the phrase.

Kirişci pointed out that the testing of Holstein bulls in authorized production centers within the scope of the Genomic Selection Project has begun, and emphasized that they have started genomic studies in the Simmental breed.

“WE WILL REDUCE BREEDING HEIVER IMPORTS TO THE LOWEST LEVELS”

Reminding that within the scope of breeding heifer purchase support, 50 percent grant support is provided for heifers born in the country and obtained from heifer centers, and 40 percent grant support is provided for heifers obtained from other supply centers, “In addition, the amount of support has been increased by 100 percent for pregnant heifers to 40 thousand liras. for empty heifers, it was increased by 108 percent to 25 thousand liras. With all these investments and supports, we will reduce the import of breeding heifers to the lowest levels. Here, too, the biggest task falls to the breeder associations.” made its assessment.

Kirişci stated that 3 percent of the support amounts to be paid to the breeder were transferred to the unions in order to strengthen the breeder's associations and provide more qualified service, and stated that in this context, 2021 million liras were paid to the Breeder Cattle Breeders' Associations for calf support in 19 and 51 million liras in total from other supports.

Kirişci said, “Using domestic resources to meet the breeding needs of livestock enterprises is an important issue for us. It will be an important approach for all of us that our breeder associations are active in raising and supplying domestic breeding animals, and that our breeders produce stance and service in line with their establishment purposes at the point of their demands.” said.
