Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer met with Deputy Ministers, general managers and national education directors of 81 provinces in order to evaluate the education policies carried out by the Ministry.

In the meeting held at the MEB Tevfik Advanced Meeting Hall and attended by the provincial national education directors online, other current issues in the field of education, especially the studies on the inclusion of unregistered students in the education system with the early warning system and tracking system for the detection of students at risk of early leaving. It was discussed.

Minister Özer stated that various projects were put into effect in order to take necessary measures to reduce student absenteeism and dropout rates at the meeting and asked for these measures to be implemented in all schools.

Özer, who instructed the Ministry bureaucrats and directors of national education to carry out the necessary studies and to follow up the issue with precision, said, “We have implemented many projects in this process, where we focused on reducing school dropout rates, and we also put in place an early warning system and follow-up system for the detection of students who are at risk of dropping out at all levels of education. We increased the enrollment rate in secondary education from 90 percent to 95 percent in one year. In 2023, we will work intensively to increase the schooling rate in secondary education to 100 percent. We will reach our young people in the secondary education age population and offer them options suitable for their conditions, and we will ensure that they are schooled, I hope…”

Özer, who asked the provincial directors to reach the parents of the students who are at risk of dropping out, by using MERNİS actively, also emphasized the importance of conducting guidance work.

Minister Özer said: “We cannot accept that even a single child is left out of the education system. We must do our best in this regard. I request you to start this issue with your heart in your provinces. Hopefully, there will be no unregistered students with the early warning and follow-up system.”

At the meeting, the relevant general managers gave technical information about the system to the provincial national education directors.
