Midyat City Pass and Connection Roads and Midyat-Nusaybin Road were opened with the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu. Karaismailoğlu stated that the transportation standard between the two districts has been increased with the works carried out on the Midyat-Nusaybin Road, and pointed out that the transportation time has decreased from 50 minutes to 30 minutes.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu noted that Mardin, which brings different cultures together, has great tourism potential. Karaismailoğlu stated that Mardin, which hosts more than 2 million domestic and foreign tourists annually, is located at the junction of East-West and North-South directional transportation corridors, and that it is also important in transit transportation, and pointed out that the development of the city has accelerated with the road investments.
Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu said, “The 21-kilometer Midyat City Crossing and connection roads, which are in the divided road standard that provides Midyat's urban transportation and its connection with the surrounding settlements, have been upgraded to the road standard with bitumen hot mix pavement. In project scope; A total of 20 intersections, designed as 8 roundabouts and 4 with shelter pockets, with a 12-kilometer-long sidewalk and a central refuge have been completed. In addition, the 43-kilometer existing road, which provides transportation between Midyat and Nusaybin in a single road standard, has been made with hot bituminous mixture pavement.
TRANSPORT TIME SHORTENED BY 20 MINUTES
Emphasizing that the connection branches to Batman, Şırnak, Nusaybin and Dargeçit were arranged with the Midyat City Pass project, and the transportation standard was increased, Karaismailoğlu said, “As the old Midyat South Ring Road, which is one of the branches of the Midyat City Pass, has become more preferable, Mardin The density caused by the transit traffic between Ankara and Şırnak was reduced in the city, and safe transportation was ensured. With the works carried out on the Midyat-Nusaybin Road, the transportation standard between the two districts was increased. The platform width of the road was increased by approximately 2 times and increased to 12 meters. With the road being made comfortable, the transportation time has been reduced from 50 minutes to 30 minutes. With the project, comfortable transportation was provided to the Beyazsu touristic area, which is used as a resting and eating and drinking area for the people of the region, especially in the summer months.
