The landing gear of the National Combat Aircraft was delivered to TAI. In this context, the landing gear to be used in the National Combat Aircraft is produced locally and nationally by TAAC, a subsidiary of TAI and ALTINAY. Announcing the development, TAI General Manager Temel Kotil announced that the MMU will be on the landing gear as of December 20, 2022. Then he stated that the engine of the MMU will also be installed.

In this context, Kotil said, “Our company TAAC manufactures the landing gear. They will carry a huge mass, 8 tons. It is very critical that we produce it. I hope we will make the engine locally. We will use F-16 engines in our first aircraft. Hopefully, our Turkish engine will arrive in 2028. BİLGEM makes the flight computer. This plane is one hundred percent national.” used his statements.

Critical delivery for MMU: Mission computer was delivered to TAI

An important corner has been turned in Turkey's 5th generation warplane, the National Combat Aircraft (MMU). The mission computer, described as the brain of MMU, was successfully produced by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM. In this context, Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank brought MMU's mission computer to the Parliament. Before the budget negotiations in the Parliament, a covered box was placed on the coffee table in front of the table where Minister Varank was going to make a speech. During Minister Varank's speech, the veil was opened and the MMU's mission computer was introduced to the deputies.

While continuing his speech, Minister Varank stated that they have successfully produced the mission computer of the MMU, which will be a 5th generation warplane, and said, “We delivered it to TAI before its time. Our engineers also developed the multi-core version of the real-time operating system running on this highly strategic state-of-the-art mission computer.” had used the words.

Critical software can be installed

MMU's mission computer was designed and developed by TÜBİTAK BİLGEM. mission computer; will have high computational and communication skills. Critical software can be installed on the mission computer. The computer will house a powerful and multifunctional modular processor unit. This computer will perform the interface and functions of engine start, mission systems and aircraft management systems.

The prototype that will emerge at the end of the project will be used in the Hangar Exit demonstration on March 18, 2023.

It will replace the F-16s.

The MMU Project was implemented as a result of the goal of producing a warplane designed and developed by the Presidency of Defense Industries with domestic facilities and capabilities and creating the manpower and infrastructure that can design and develop this aircraft. MMU, of which TAI is the main contractor, is planned to replace F-2030 warplanes in the 16s.

New technological capabilities
