Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Equestrian Sports Facility played a supportive role in the treatment of disabled children with its equestrian therapy service. In 12 months, 2 children with mental and physical disabilities received therapy services at the facility.

Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Equestrian Sports Facilities, which hosted 60 thousand citizens for a year, was flooded by citizens who wanted to get rid of the stress of daily life, and touched the lives of disabled children. At the facility, where an average of 120 people are given riding training per month, horse therapy services were also provided to support the treatment of children with mental or physical problems.

THERAPY SERVICE TO 2 CHILDREN

Equestrian therapy, which is used as a treatment method, enables the person to instinctively try to balance by activating the muscles of the rider, thanks to the three-dimensional rhythmic movements of the horse. Thus, the muscles in various parts of the body work. The therapy service provided at the Equestrian Sports Facility of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality is the hope of disabled children in this sense. The facility, which has a total of 28 horses of British, Arabian, Iranian, American, Austrian and Dutch breeds, provided therapy services to 2 disabled children throughout the year.

Metropolitan Mayor Mustafa Demir, who said, “We make sure that there are no children and young people who do not touch the horses, have an equestrian experience” and said that the Equestrian Sports Facilities is one of the places that attract the most attention in the city with its sea view, natural environment and calmness. Stating that disabled children also ride horses with horse therapy service, Mayor Demir said, “Our special children ride horses at certain times in our facility. Families also say that horse therapy contributes positively to the leg and arm muscle development of their children. We contribute not only to the physical but also to the spiritual development of our individuals receiving therapy.”

“Our only concern is for our children to leave here happy. Their happiness is our greatest happiness. We strive to provide the best service to Samsun in every respect. This year, we provided horse therapy services to 2 disabled children. In our facility, which is visited by 60 thousand people, we also train licensed athletes by giving riding training to an average of 120 people every month. Riding a horse is an amazing feeling. We do not want any of our children and young people who do not touch the horses to remain.”
