Kirstie Alley, who was world-renowned for her role in the comedy series Cheers in the 1980s and took part in many productions, died at the age of 71. Alley was undergoing cancer treatment, according to his family's statement.

"We regret to inform you that our wonderful, lively and loving mother passed away," her family said in a written statement.

Who is Kirstie Alley?

Kirsten Louise "Kirstie" Alley (born January 12, 1951 – died December 5, 2022) is an American actress. She is best known for her role as Rebecca Howe in the television series Cheers from 1987-1993. She received an Emmy Award in 1991 for her role in this series.

Alley also won an Emmy for her role in the famous TV series Cheers, which aired during the 1980s and '90s.

Born in Wichita, Kansas, Alley has also appeared in Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan, the Drop Dead Georgous films, and the Look Who's Talking series.

The statement did not specify which type of cancer the actor had, but stated that he was "diagnosed very recently":

“The nuclear family has always been by his side, fighting with great strength and leaving us confident that his joy of life never ends no matter what. The bigger she was on screen, the more amazing she was a mom and grandma.”

John Travolta, co-star in the "Look Who's Talking" series, posted under Alley's photo in his Instagram post, "Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I've had in my life. I love you Kirstie. We'll see each other again, I know, ”she wrote.

He co-starred with Ted Danson in NBC's comedy series Cheers, set in a bar in Boston. Alley, who entered the cast during the most popular period of the series and took part in 1993 episodes until the series finale in 147, first received an Emmy Award for her role here.

She subsequently won a second Emmy Award in 1993 for her performance in the CBS television movie David's Mother.
