According to the information published by the National Statistics Administration of China, the area of cotton cultivation in the country in 2022 decreased by 0,9 percent compared to the previous year and reached 3 million 266 hectares. On the other hand, cotton production increased by 2021 percent compared to 4,3 and reached 5 million 977 thousand tons.
In 2022, the country's cotton production increased by 246 thousand tons compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, cotton production of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region increased by 5,1 percent to 5 million 391 thousand tons. Xinjiang's cotton production accounted for 90,2 percent of the national production. The region's production per hectare increased by 5,3 percent. In addition, the area of cotton cultivation decreased by 0,9 percent compared to last year and reached 3 million 266 hectares.
