ASELSAN is making the first delivery of its Armored Combat Vehicle (ZMA) modernization project with a ceremony. In this context, making statements at the ceremony, Defense Industry President Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir said, “With the ZMA Modernization Project, we have integrated modern unmanned turrets into our vehicle with 134 old generation gun turrets, and we have maximized the mobility of the vehicles with improvements in firepower, threat detection and warning systems, survivability, power and transmission systems. We aim to complete our deliveries, which started with the delivery of the first vehicle today, within 2024.” used his statements.
It is aimed to provide modernization and logistics support with the domestic development project model in order to increase the firepower, survivability and situational awareness capabilities of the Armored Combat Vehicles (ZMAs), which are in the inventory of the Land Forces Command, and to gain navigation capability. For this purpose, the main contractor agreement was signed between the Presidency of Defense Industries and ASELSAN on 31 December 2019 for the ZMA Modernization Project in order to meet the needs of the Land Forces Command.
Within the scope of the project, the renewal and improvement activities of ZMAs will be carried out under the main contractor of ASELSAN, 25mm NEFER Weapon System, Laser Warning System, Close Range Surveillance System, Driver Vision System, Direction Finding and Navigation System, CBRN System, Commander, Gunner , Personnel and Driver Dashboards will be integrated.
Within the scope of the project, maintenance and repair activities will be carried out on the ZMA platforms by the subcontractor FNSS, the Air Conditioning System, Heating System, Fire Extinguishing and Explosion Suppression System subsystems will be integrated into the platforms, and armor and mine protection levels will be increased.
Within the scope of the project, as of October 2022, the qualification phase and the acceptance and inspection activities of the two vehicles included in the first delivery batch were successfully completed. Within the scope of the project, work continues for the deliveries of 133 vehicles.
