After the Düzce Earthquake, 65 thousand 84 citizens were given psychosocial support

Family and Social Services Minister Derya Yanık stated that they offered their material and moral support to the citizens who were damaged due to the earthquake in Düzce from the very first moment. In this context, Minister Yanık announced that they transferred 46 million TL of resources to the region and provided psychosocial support services to 65.084 citizens.

Providing information about the services offered to the citizens of the region after the earthquake in Düzce in November, Minister Yanık stated that they provided 1 million TL in cash to meet the basic needs of the citizens in the first place.

45 million TL aid

Stating that they do not leave the affected citizens alone after natural disasters, Minister Yanık said, “Meeting the needs that arise at the first moment is among our priorities. For this reason, we do not consider the condition of neediness in our aids. In this context, after the requests we received, we activated the property damage assistance and transferred a total of 45 million TL to the region.”

Products such as food, clothes, baby food were delivered to the citizens

Minister Yanık stated that in addition to cash aids, in-kind aids to meet the basic needs of the citizens were delivered quickly, “As our Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundation (SYDV), Disaster In-kind Donation Warehouse Management and Distribution Working Group, with a total of 60 personnel and 14 vehicles, after the earthquake. We continued our work. We have delivered the necessary products, such as food, clothes, shoes, diapers and formula, feminine hygiene materials, cleaning materials, blankets, food shopping cards, to our citizens.

Stating that the citizens of the region affected by the disaster have been on the field from the first moment to heal their wounds, Minister Yanık said, “We are making a sensitive study to provide the cash benefits and psychosocial support to the disaster areas. From the very first moment, we offered our material and moral support to those who were harmed after the earthquake in Düzce. We transferred 46 million TL of resources through our SYDVs. Psychological first aid, individual interview, etc. We provided psychosocial support services to 65.084 citizens in total by using interventions.

Needs of 1.230 households were identified

Stating that the needs of 1.230 households were determined within the scope of the household interviews in Düzce and they were quickly conveyed to the relevant institutions, Minister Yanık said:

“Within the scope of psychosocial support activities, a total of 443 personnel, as well as 31 vehicles and 1 mobile truck, served in the field. Our SYDVs make their local determinations, especially in terms of delivering cash aids to citizens. Whatever needs of our citizens affected by the disaster are determined. Wherever there is a disaster, you can see the teams of our Ministry in those regions to eliminate the devastating effect of that disaster.”
