In the interview held within the scope of Real Estate, Construction and Urban Transformation Fair – Rescon Expo, hosted by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and organized in cooperation with İZFAŞ and Nobel Expo Fair Organization, Historical Kemeraltı İnşaat Yatırım Ticaret A.Ş. (TARKEM ) General Manager Sergenç İneler took part as a speaker.

TARKEM General Manager Sergenç İneler talked about the projects they implemented and ongoing projects in the talk on “A new business and investment model in the protection and operation of the cultural heritage in and around İzmir Historical Kemeraltı Bazaar on its way to becoming a UNESCO World Heritage Site”. İneler said, “This fair will be a milestone for TARKEM. Because until today, there was the historical Kemeraltı structure, which was mostly referred to as social projects and social works. With this fair, we can explain that urban renewal and transformation is actually experienced in Kemeraltı, that TARKEM has done exemplary works here, and that it has reached a dimension that actually makes a difference here, both with its governance structure and with its restoration and business logic. In this sense, the Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, who is also our Chairman of the Board, Mr. Tunç SoyerI would like to thank İZFAŞ and İZFAŞ. Because it's a vision. Here, I would like to point out that; 'Another urban transformation is possible' We act with this vision in our projects," he said.

Sergenç İneler reminded that TARKEM was established in 2012 to create a new business model to protect and develop İzmir's urban values, and to revive the İzmir Historical City Center with this model, and said, “TARKEM is a structure with 173 partners. One of the most important examples of the public-private partnership model in Turkey, TARKEM's partnership structure consists of 40 percent public, 10 percent chambers and exchanges, and 50 percent private sector. The main purpose of TARKEM is to produce need-oriented, innovative and real estate, cultural heritage service and organization projects in the determined area, especially in the depressed areas, located within the Kemeraltı and Surrounding Urban Renewal Area, which was announced in 2007. Historical Kemeraltı and its surroundings, which are still defined as the center of the city and are actively used today, more than 2 thousand registered monumental and civil architecture examples, street and square texture with a history of 2 thousand 500 years, inn, workshop, hotel, bath, mosque, church, synagogue. It is an area where a rich and very colorful cultural mosaic is formed and developed with its historical and cultural structures such as schools, fountains, etc.

İneler said, “TARKEM aims to make this area a more livable area, which can be moved safely 7 hours a day, 24 days a week, the most important tourism destination of İzmir, by dealing with all kinds of problems and needs in the region and making fast, proactive and efficient decisions at the point of producing solutions. is working. The project has focused its work on 19 regions, primarily Basmane, Kestelli and Synagogues, selected from the 3 sub-regions determined in Izmir Historical City Center. Working to develop an area of ​​252 hectares located at the intersection of İzmir's most important cultural, art, tourism and trade points, TARKEM continues on its way by growing.”

Sergenç İneler, by explaining the projects they have implemented and ongoing as TARKEM, said, “We are trying to implement the urban transformation and urban renewal model of Kemeraltı and its surroundings, on the way to UNESCO World Heritage, as an example to Turkey and the world, with our own governance model and finance model, by saying 'Another renewal is possible'. ” he said.
