7 international agreements approved by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan were published in the Official Gazette.
Within the scope of the "Decision on the Approval of the Agreement on Preventing and Combating the Illegal Traffic of Cultural Property" signed between Turkey and Ecuador, the two countries will cooperate with each other on cultural properties seized through theft, smuggling and illegal transfer, and return the seized cultural properties to each other.
While both countries commit to harmonizing their legislation with the 1970 Unesco Convention on Measures for the Prevention and Prohibition of Illegal Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property, they will also cooperate in the locating and recovery of illegally removed cultural property.
The agreement on the implementation of the social security agreement with Iran was also approved and published in the Official Gazette. Within the scope of the agreement, the liaison institution in Turkey will be the Social Security Institution and the General Directorate of the Turkish Employment Agency, and the Social Security Institution in Iran.
While the agreement deals with the necessary arrangements for the citizens of the two countries to benefit from various rights and allowances if they live in another, it also regulates issues such as combining insurance periods and making applications.
Turkey-Kazakhstan and Turkey-Finland Land Transport Joint Commission Meeting protocols were also approved.
At the meetings held with the participation of expert delegations between the two countries and Turkey, issues such as statistical data exchange, goods transport, digitalization of international road transport, statistical information exchange on goods transport and use of transit documents, determination of additional transition documents for 2022 and quotas for 2023 were discussed.
Agreements with Tajikistan on water, with Kosovo in the field of youth and sports were ratified
The “Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Water between Turkey and Tajikistan” signed in Ankara on September 9, 2021 between Turkey and Tajikistan was approved and published in the Official Gazette.
According to the agreement, the parties, based on national legislation for the protection, development and management of water resources; will cooperate with the sharing of knowledge, experience and technology on the basis of equality, reciprocity and mutual benefit.
Sharing information on new technologies in drinking water and treatment plants, irrigation systems and freshwater fisheries, management of water resources, prevention of wastewater pollution, modernization of irrigation systems, preparation of flood and drought management plans, and establishing a network of experts between the two countries. covers areas of cooperation.
The “Agreement on Cooperation between Turkey and Kosovo in the Field of Youth and Sports” signed in Ankara on March 1, 2022 between Turkey and Kosovo was also approved.
With this agreement, it is aimed to support and facilitate communication and cooperation between youth and sports structures of both countries and to determine the framework of cooperation programs in these fields on the basis of reciprocity.
It is expected that the two countries will create programs for the education and vocational employment of young people, include young people in volunteering activities, organize internship programs, support institutions and organizations in studies for youth, and carry out exchange projects and mobility programs.
Cooperation between Turkey and Palestine in the field of knowledge, experience and technology sharing in the environmental field
The “Memorandum of Understanding between Turkey and Palestine on Cooperation in the Field of Environment” signed in Ramallah on May 24, 2022 between Turkey and Palestine was also approved and published in the Official Gazette.
With this memorandum of understanding, the parties aim to reduce pollution and ensure environmental sustainability with a balanced approach to the protection and use of the ecosystem.
For this purpose, the two countries will cooperate by sharing knowledge, experience, best practices and technology, based on the principle of equity, benefit and reciprocity.
The scope of cooperation includes areas such as integrated waste management, wastewater collection and treatment, green economy, climate change and biodiversity.
