Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that the highest bid for the Esenboğa Airport capacity increase tender came from TAV Airports Holding AŞ with 560 million 500 thousand Euros including VAT and emphasized that the 118-year rental price of 750 million 25 thousand Euros will be paid in cash within 90 days.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made a statement regarding the capacity increase tender of Esenboğa Airport. Stating that Turkey is the country with the largest flight network in the world in civil aviation, Karaismailoğlu drew attention to the importance of capacity at airports. Underlining that they went to the Esenboğa Airport capacity increase tender after Antalya Airport, Karaismailoğlu said that the tender was awarded to a total of 3 companies, Cengiz Construction Industry and Trade Inc., Limak Construction Industry and Trade Inc./Limak Investment Energy Production Operation Services and Construction Inc. Joint Venture and TAV Airports Holding Inc. the firm participated.

OPERATION TIME 25 YEARS

Karaismailoğlu, who stated that there was a hard bargaining process in the tender, which was held openly and transparently to the press, said, “Limak Construction/Limak Investment Joint Venture was excluded from the tender on the grounds that it did not comply with the specifications. Cengiz İnşaat Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ and TAV Airports Holding AŞ competed in the auction. TAV Airports Holding AŞ, with 475 million Euros + VAT, made the best bid in the tender for the construction of additional investments to increase the capacity of Esenboğa Airport and the leasing of the operating rights of domestic and international lines, CIP, general aviation terminals and their components. This rental amount reaches 560 million 500 thousand Euros with VAT. 25 percent of the 25-year rental price will be paid in advance within 90 days. This cost corresponds to 118 million 750 thousand Euros. The tender covers the 24-year period between May 2025, 23, when the existing agreement will expire, and May 2050, 25.

297.5 MILLION EURO INVESTMENT COMMITMENT

Pointing out that TAV Airports Holding AŞ, which won the tender, made an investment commitment of 210 million 303 thousand 538 euros in the first stage and 87 million 242 thousand 540 euros in the second stage, a total of 297 million 546 thousand 78 euros, Karaismailoğlu stated that there is no passenger guarantee in the tender.

Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu, who said, “This tender, which we realized just days before the end of 2022, has once again revealed the power of our country,” said, “We are laying another brick in our future with our investments on this road to the Turkish Century. Our investments will be the token of our future. We will have more say in the world in the rapidly developing aviation industry. Our country, which we have made into Europe's hub, will continue to make a name for itself," he said.
