54-Hour 2022 Exercise of Special Operations Police in Istanbul Completed

The drill, which was carried out by the teams of the Special Operations Branch Directorate in the rural areas of Adile Sadullah Mermerci Police Vocational School and Çiftealan District, lasted 54 hours. In the exercise, the special operations police carried out an operation against the targets determined in the air, in the water and on the ground, as per the scenario.

The exercise, which was held in the field where local and national weapons and ammunition were used, started with air-assisted search and scanning activities accompanied by helicopters and reporting the target point detected by the police helicopter to the ground teams.

While providing warm contact to the determined area, machine gun and sniper personnel were lowered to dominant points in support of the field team with a second Skorsky type helicopter. While the special operations police were shooting with real bullets, support was provided with weapons such as rockets, lava and bomb throwers.

After the fire support was given to the teams with the Zodiac boat and the target was destroyed, the special operations police in the region were evacuated.

Intervention Techniques of Special Operations Police Against Attackers

In the drill held at the school, within the scope of "police intervention methods and techniques", an operation was carried out with a special dog for the armed terrorist, with the purchase of weapons, neutralizing the person from a short distance, intervening with the attacker with a knife.

Following the completion of the vehicle operation against the bus, double-sided helicopter shooting, simultaneous tower shooting with armored vehicles, shooting with the “Kobra” and “Kirpi” armored vehicles, the general course and sniper shooting, the Turkish flag was unfurled.
