100 Artists in the 100th Anniversary of the Republic

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality is hosting an exhibition with the participation of 100 artists for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey. The “Faces of the Face” exhibition at the Konak Metro Art Gallery brings together the works of 50 female and 50 male artists from different cities of Turkey with the people of Izmir.

As Izmir Metropolitan Municipality enters the 100th anniversary of the Republic, it is hosting the “Faces of the Face” exhibition in cooperation with the International Artists Union. The opening of the exhibition, which features the works of 50 female and 50 male artists from different cities of Turkey in the fields of painting, sculpture, printing, ceramics and photography, was held at Konak Metro Art Gallery. The exhibition can be visited until January 27.

“Art is to object”

Mustafa Özuslu, Deputy Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, who attended the opening ceremony, said, “If young people are making art in this city, if those children say 'We exist' with that artistic fire in them, then this country cannot be defeated. It is never defeated. Because young people will come. Art shapes our future. We will take all our strength from there and carry it into the future. Art should be everywhere. On the street, in the subway… Art is an objection.”

“Everything is beautiful in Izmir”

President of the International Artists Union Levent Tanyeri said, “Izmir is the bright city of my beautiful hometown. Our esteemed artists, our esteemed teachers, who add light to this enlightenment. All I can say is this: Good luck to you. Everything is very beautiful in İzmir,” he said. Artist Oğuz Demir, a member of the International Union of Artists, is also the Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, for bringing such a beautiful gallery to a metropolis at a time when all galleries were closed. Tunç SoyerHe thanked. Işılay Saygın Fine Arts High School students performed the works they prepared in the exhibition.

The exhibition can be visited every weekday at Konak Metro Art Gallery between 09.00-18.00.
