What Are The Best Practices for Managing Cloud Services?

The progressive development of technology provides us with many facilities and innovative solutions. Among them, we distinguish, among others, newer and newer devices that can perform many operations at once and in a short time, fast data transfer, the development of artificial intelligence, and, of course, safe and efficient data storage. The latter is included in the so-called cloud computing, i.e., cloud computing. It is nothing more than a virtual place to store data, which gives us a lot of opportunities to manage the company or significantly facilitates access to private information for ordinary people.

Cloud services - an innovative IT solution

In 2022, after the pandemic significantly limited us, when most of us were forced to switch to remote work or learning, we began to appreciate technological development and the opportunities that virtual aids open to us. Among them, the demand for access to various types of data and information from many places and by different people has increased intensively. Cloud service management allows you to do just that. Where initially data was stored only on computer hard drives and physical servers, limiting their access from places other than the office, now a completely different reality has occurred. Data and cloud services allow access to them from anywhere in the world and by different people and efficient transfer of this type of information. The year 2022 will make cloud services more and more popular, not only because of the possibility of general availability. They provide the ability to store vast amounts of data that would be significantly limited in capacity if held in a traditional, physical way. In addition, cloud services are so secure and encrypted that we can easily store sensitive or closely guarded information (as is the case with larger enterprises). Access to such cloud services can be divided into open or closed (private), or we can create a hybrid cloud (having an available part available to all users and securing additional sectors for management).

Types of cloud services and their use

Cloud computing, i.e., cloud services, can be distinguished into:

  • Software as a Service (SaaS) - a fully configured server enables territorially unlimited access using a device with Internet access (Dropbox, iCloud, Google Drive).
  • Platform as a Service (PaaS) - operating system management intended mainly for developers (Windows Azure, Amazon Web Services).
  • Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is only a hardware infrastructure (servers) devoid of software, applications, and drivers that the user must provide himself.

Cloud services are not limited to fulfilling a virtual disk function. Thanks to the possibilities offered by the Internet connection and access to any device (computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone) that can connect to the network or the Internet, we can make group calls (Zoom, Google Hangouts), optimize work in the company ( spreadsheets, accounting programs, data modeling) and ensure the creation of data copies (very useful in the event of equipment or electrical installation failure).
