Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank announced that Turkey is a member of the Global Partnership on AI (GPAI). Making a presentation at the Parliamentary Plan and Budget Commission on the budget of the Ministry, Minister Varank said, "As of today, we have become a member of the Artificial Intelligence Global Partnership, which is an important reference point in artificial intelligence studies." said.
THE DECISION IS OUT IN TOKYO
Turkey's application for GPAI membership was discussed and approved at the GPAI Ministerial Council Meeting held in Tokyo on November 22, 2022. GPAI aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice in artificial intelligence studies by supporting priority research and applied activities related to artificial intelligence.
THERE ARE 29 MEMBERS
Its secretariat brings together representatives of the GPAI, public, private sector, academia and civil society, made by the OECD, of which Turkey is a founding member. 29 countries, including Turkey, are members of GPAI, which is a guiding mechanism in the development of multidisciplinary research and determining the focal points of artificial intelligence applications.
RELIABLE ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
With its GPAI membership, Turkey will add value to the ongoing international cooperation for the responsible development and use of artificial intelligence. It will take part as a stakeholder in the work carried out in the fields of reliable artificial intelligence, data management, the future of professions, innovation and commercialization.
CONTRIBUTION TO NATIONAL TARGETS
GPAI studies will also contribute to the activities carried out by Turkey to achieve the goals set in the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy.
