The Shenzhou-14 crew aboard China's orbiting Tiangong Space Station has completed its third extravehicular activity, according to the China Manned Space Agency.

Chen Dong and Cai Xuzhe collaborated with Liu Yang, who worked inside the core module to support their teammates, to accomplish all the set tasks. Chen and Cai returned safely to the Wentian lab.

During their out-of-vehicle activity (EVA), which lasted about 5,5 hours, they built the out-of-cab “bridge” that connects the core module with the Wentian lab to the Mengtian lab. Meanwhile, Cai has completed the first inter-module spacewalk through the bridge.

They also installed the Panoramic Camera A at Wentian and mounted the auxiliary handles of the small mechanical arm.

These were the first extravehicular activities to take place after the space station's basic T-shaped configuration was formed.

For the first time on the spacewalk, the interoperability of astronauts and mechanical arms was examined, and the performance of Wentian's airlock cabin and support facilities during extravehicular activities was further validated.
