In the operation carried out in 11 provinces based in Ankara, 58 of the 47 suspects who allegedly defrauded a large number of people by hijacking the social media accounts of citizens and posting promising high-yield posts to their friend groups, were detained.

According to the information obtained, the teams of the Ankara Police Department Anti-Cyber ​​Crime Branch, coordinated by the Ankara West Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, carried out a simultaneous operation to arrest 11 suspects in 58 provinces for the crimes of "qualified fraud through IT" and "laundering the assets resulting from crime".

While 58 of the 47 suspects were detained in the operation, many mobile phones, sim cards and computers were confiscated.

It was determined that the suspects seized the social media accounts of the citizens with the links they sent after creating the perception of "as if there were complaints about them", and then defrauded a large number of people by making high-profit posts from these accounts to their friend groups. In the investigations, it was determined that the suspects defrauded many people in this way, totaling 79 million liras.

It was learned that the interrogation of the suspects brought to Ankara continues at the Anti-Cyber ​​Crime Branch Directorate.
