IMM commemorated the founder of the Republic of Turkey, the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, with an event organized on the 84th anniversary of his passing. Speaking at the commemoration held with the participation of Parliamentary CHP Group Deputy Chairman Engin Altay and Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yılmaz Büyükerşen, İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu“In the second century of our Republic, we will once again set an example to the world with beauty and goodness. Emphasizing that Atatürk was a leader who said, “To give my life for the sake of national sovereignty, it should be a debt of conscience and honor for me,” İmamoğlu said, “Atatürk. This nation; There was no greater honor in his eyes than being a hardworking, honest and brave individual. That's why he is our Great Leader. Ataturk told us; It did not leave a dogmatic teaching, frozen and stereotyped rules. On the contrary, it led us to walk on the path of reason and science. He encouraged the idea to be free, the conscience to be free, and the knowledge to be free. That's why he is our great leader. Understanding and loving Atatürk begins with protecting his invaluable trust, the Republic, unconditionally. We will hug the Republic, our beautiful Republic, which we have started to count down for its centennial year, stronger than ever; With the inspiration we received from Atatürk, walking strongly on the path he drew for us…”
“WE WILL BUILD A DEMOCRATIC AND VERY STRONG STATE”
Saying, “In the second century of our Republic, we will once again set an example to the world with beauties and kindnesses,” İmamoğlu said in his speech, “We will build a democratic and very strong state under the command of equal and free citizens, our citizens and our nation, working only for their happiness. Together, we will strengthen and rebuild the freest, most egalitarian and fairest system in this geography, with its institutions and rules. We will be a peaceful and happy society that trusts and respects each other. In the presence of you and the children of this beautiful Republic of Turkey, I commemorate the great Atatürk, who gave us this trust, hope and courage, and I am honored to live in the same lands and have the same ideals and values with him, with love, respect and gratitude. My father, may your soul rest in peace”.
After İmamoğlu's speech, the participants told some sections of Mert Fırat Atatürk's life to the audience. Gökhan Türkmen and Melek Mosso sang the songs that Atatürk sometimes cheered and sometimes saddened.
