Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) held a ceremony for 2 projects that will change the face of Fındıklı, one of the most crowded neighborhoods of Maltepe. While the foundation of the Fındıklı Social Life Center was laid, Altayçeşme Park, which was completely renovated in line with the demands of the citizens, was put into service again. At the groundbreaking and opening ceremony; IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu, Maltepe Mayor Ali Kılıç and İBB Deputy Secretary General Gürkan Alpay made speeches.
“OUR GOVERNMENT'S BUSINESS SHOULD BE DEPENDED ON AN ABSOLUTE PROTOCOL”
Emphasizing that from the moment they took office, they determined that there were deficiencies and problems in the protocols of the IMM's works with many institutions, İmamoğlu said, “It is interesting that construction has started in some districts. For example; Work was started on a land owned by the Treasury, but there is no cooperation protocol with the relevant institution. For example; A work has been started on the land of a district municipality, and there is no consensus text on how the project will be used in the future. What a coincidence, none of the districts where these works are carried out belong to another political party. In other words, each of them are works focused on certain districts. Of course, it's a government job, it's not like that. The work of our state, the work of the public, must be bound by an absolute protocol. The problem should not be handed over to the future. In that respect, we, together with the task we have taken, sit down with all the districts and solve the problems at the table, what is the meaning of the protocol, who does it; Which facility will be used by which institution, which defines the functions that the remaining institutions in the region should be ready with, whether there is a priority demand of women or children; We managed the process with an understanding that evaluated those areas by looking at them”.

KILIÇ: “WE LIVED A 5 YEARS WITH NO ONE FROM IMM VISITING US”
Maltepe Mayor Ali Kılıç, who stated that the Fındıklı District, which will meet the Life Center, whose foundation was laid, is one of the most crowded neighborhoods of Maltepe, said, “During my tenure, when I wandered around Fındıklı from time to time, when we met with our mukhtar, when we met with our fellow citizens and shopkeepers. Our citizens were constantly suggesting and making suggestions, saying, 'Mayor, build a park here,' because they thought every empty space they found was the land of Maltepe Municipality. Unfortunately, none of these areas belonged to us, and we made a lot of efforts in the last period, in a desperate way, to have the area we are on now a social facility as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we did not have much strength at that time. I told you, someone was taken but; For once, we had a 5 year period where no one from the Metropolitan visited us. This period, our dear President İmamoğlu comes to Maltepe almost every two weeks as a result of his understanding of serving Istanbul, equal to 16 million more than once, and at the same distance. They are almost competing to solve the union by joining forces,” he said.
ALPAY: “REQUESTS FROM THE REGIONAL PEOPLE HAVE BEEN EFFECTIVE”
Stating that the Social Life Center, which will be established on an area of 3 thousand 250 square meters, will have different units that will facilitate and support the lives of citizens, İBB Deputy Secretary General Gürkan Alpay shared the information that the project will be completed next autumn. Stating that the Altayçeşme Park, which has been completely overhauled and reorganized in line with the demands from the people of the region, has been renewed with 13 thousand 221 square meters of green space, Alpay noted that both projects were prepared within the scope of the "joint service protocol" signed with Maltepe Municipality.
