A competition in which young people developing software in the field of blockchain competed under the leadership of the public was held for the first time. In 2022, the Digital Turkey Blockchain Hackathon – DIGIATHON, organized under the coordination of the Presidency's Digital Transformation Office, competed in projects aimed at integrating the e-Government Gateway into the blockchain. In the competition, which will bring innovative applications to e-Government with blockchain, the first TKM-M060 team became the second 0XA1E1ACE1E and the third BİLKENTDEV team.

NOT JUST CRYPTO MONEY

DIGIATHON 2022 was designed to provide young people with the appropriate infrastructure to produce original ideas and to gain experience in this field. The competition is not only for the crypto money and financial sector of blockchain technology; It also aims to show applicability in applications that have transparency, traceability, immutability and approval mechanism. TÜRKSAT, Avalanche and Turkey's Automobile Togg also supported DIGIATHON 2022, the blockchain leg of the National Technology Move.

DISTURBING TECHNOLOGIES

The final of the Digital Turkey Blockchain Hackathon-DIGIATHON 2022 was held in Istanbul. Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Industry and Technology Varank stated that digital technologies are developing at a great pace and said that fields such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, internet of things, robotics and blockchain are now disruptive technologies.

NEW IDEAS WILL GROW

Underlining that blockchain technology has radically changed the way of doing business, Minister Varank said, “There are many more innovation areas that can be explored in blockchain. Here, the Digital Turkey Blockchain Hackathon, which will be instrumental in the emergence of new ideas, was held to draw attention to blockchain technology.” said.

ADAPTING TO REAL LIFE

Noting that the e-Government Gateway is growing and developing day by day, Varank emphasized that such competitions are important in order to adapt blockchain studies to real life.

AN IMPORTANT OPPORTUNITY

Noting that the e-Government Gateway, which reduces bureaucracy and enables citizens to receive services comfortably, will continue to grow, Varank said, “Perhaps we will add new services here or improve existing services by increasing transparency and reliability with some of the ideas that emerged as a result of DIGIATHON 2022. Therefore, this competition presents a very important opportunity to implement real-life solutions of the blockchain.” he said.

BRING NEW BREATH

Head of the Digital Transformation Office, Koç, stated that Bitcoin, which can be considered a revolution for the traditional economy, came out of the people who produced projects with an investigative spirit and said, “You also sought blockchain solutions for digital government applications in the 30-hour DIGIATHON 2022 Final and produced projects that will bring a new breath to the e-Government Gateway. Who knows, maybe your projects with the signature of DIGIATHON 2022, whose first steps are taken here, will bring innovations to digital government applications in the coming period.” said.

THE COUNTRY THAT DIRECTED THE AGES

Reminding that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that the Century of Turkey will be the Century of Digital, thanks to the youth, Koç said, “As our President emphasized in his vision of the Century of Turkey, we are on a journey from a country that is trying to catch up with the era to a country that is shaping the era. For this, we will take our country to the top in every field from the metaverse to blockchain in the field of digital technologies. It is you, our youth, who will make the Century of Turkey the Century of Digital.” he said.

THE FINAL STAGE LASTED 30 HOURS

88 teams, consisting of 24 competitors who made it to the finals in the hackathon, produced innovative solutions for the e-Government Gateway with blockchain technology. 24 teams that developed the best ideas out of 10 teams advanced to the finals.
