The Council of State Said 'Stop' to the Fountain Project Called Izmir's Canal Istanbul

The Council of State said 'stop' to the Çeşme Project, which is called İzmir's Canal Istanbul. In the lawsuit filed by professional chambers and environmentalists, the Council of State Council of Administrative Litigation Chambers decided to stay the execution by a majority of votes.

A decision was made to suspend the execution of the Çeşme Culture and Tourism Region Project (Çeşme Project) prepared by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, known as İzmir's Canal Istanbul.

Last August, professional chambers related to the project filed a lawsuit against the 6th Chamber of the Council of State for the stay of execution. The Department denied this request. Thereupon, 111 people, including many professional organizations and citizens, objected to this decision.

The Council of State Council of Administrative Litigation Chambers lifted the stay of execution decision given by the 6th Chamber of the Council of State and gave a stay of execution decision.

Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy stated that the plans of the project will be suspended by the end of next month.
