Ankara Metropolitan Municipality organized an earthquake drill on the anniversary of the 12 November Düzce Earthquake to commemorate those who lost their lives and to raise awareness. After the exercise organized under the coordination of the Department of Health Affairs, Department of Earthquake Risk Management and Urban Improvement and the Ankara Fire Department, those who lost their lives in the earthquake were commemorated with a minute of silence.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues its efforts to raise awareness against natural disasters that may occur and to raise awareness among citizens.

Department of Health Affairs, Department of Earthquake Risk Management and Urban Improvement and Ankara Fire Department held an earthquake drill on the 12rd anniversary of the 23 November Düzce Earthquake. During the exercise held at the BELMEK and Occupational Health and Safety building on Ragıp Tüzün Street of the Metropolitan Municipality, citizens were told what to do in the event of an earthquake, and a citizen who was stuck in the warehouse was rescued by firefighters.

WHO LOSE LIVES IN THE EARTHQUAKE REMEMBERED

After the exercise, those who lost their lives in the Düzce Earthquake were commemorated with a minute of silence.

Seyfettin Aslan, Head of Health Affairs Department, started his speech by wishing mercy to those who lost their lives in the earthquake, “However, the earthquake is the reality of our country, we need to be prepared. As Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, we prepare all our units against natural disasters, we conduct drills," said Mutlu Gürler, Head of Earthquake Risk Management and Urban Improvement Department:

“We commemorate those who lost their lives in the Düzce Earthquake with mercy. We are very sorry, but it is not enough to be sad. It is necessary to prepare the society against the real disasters of Turkey at any moment. With the exercise we did today, we have also practiced the training of our own personnel in this direction. We want our citizens to reach a certain level of awareness about disasters. For this, the exercises are very important.”

Ankara Fire Brigade General Coordinator Levent Çeri stated that as Ankara Fire Brigade they are always prepared for natural disasters and said, “This style is used to remind and commemorate the 12 November Düzce Earthquake, organized by the Occupational Health and Safety Directorate, in which all the units of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality participate, and to create earthquake awareness in Turkey. With evacuation programs, we also make our own teams dynamic. In this way, we also raise awareness of our people. May God not cause such disasters again. We wish mercy to those who lost their lives in the earthquake," he said.
