Celal Kılıçdaroğlu (born April 8, 1954; Ballıca, Nazımiye – died November 18, 2022, İzmit) is one of Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's brothers. He is known for his opposing discourses to his older brother Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu.
Celal Kılıçdaroğlu was born in Ballıca village of Nazımiye district of Tunceli on April 8, 1954 as the youngest of seven children of land registry officer Kamer Bey and housewife Yemuş Hanım in an Alevi family. The family's previous surname 'Karabulut' was changed to 'Kılıçdaroğlu' by his father in the 1950s because everyone in the village they lived in had the same surname. He completed primary and secondary school in Patnos. While he was studying at high school in Patnos, his music teacher dropped Kılıçdaroğlu from class because he laughed at those who sang folk songs before him. Kılıçdaroğlu, whose political views started to change in 2016, started a hunger strike claiming that his elder brother Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu had connections with the Gülen Movement, and made a statement saying: Let my brother go, let Gülen take his surname. Afterwards, he started a sit-in in Didim City Square, saying “Our President Erdogan is an Atatürk”. Thereupon, Celal Kılıçdaroğlu was sent to discipline with a definite expulsion request from the CHP. At the FMC meeting, he announced that he resigned from the CHP after being disciplined with a definite expulsion request. In 2017, Celal Kılıçdaroğlu's children petitioned for their father to be appointed as 'guardian'. Kılıçdaroğlu supported the AK Party's yes campaign on March 6, 2017. On January 9, 2017, Celal Kılıçdaroğlu went to the party's headquarters to become a member of the AK Party, but the AK Party announced that the application could not be accepted for ethical reasons. On November 25, 2017, on his way home, he lost his balance and fell to the ground, breaking his leg. He congratulated the perpetrators who physically attacked Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu on April 22, 2019.
