Train Traffic Between Turkey and Bulgaria Will Accelerate

General Manager of the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD), Hasan Pezuk, made a series of visits to Bulgaria in order to speed up the train traffic between Turkey and Bulgaria and to contribute more to our country's exports. During the meetings with Bulgarian Minister of Transport and Communications Hristo Aleksiev and other officials, a consensus was reached to eliminate the slowdown in customs between the two countries. During the meetings, it was also decided to start the work on the double line of the railway line between Kapikule-Svilengrad.

The TCDD delegation headed by TCDD General Manager Hasan Pezük made various visits and inspections in Bulgaria. TCDD delegation attended the "Working Group" meeting, which was established to facilitate border crossing procedures in railway traffic between Kapikule-Svilengrad. At the Working Group meeting, the problem and solution proposals at the border were discussed and a decision was taken to increase the capacity. He also paid a courtesy visit to Turkey's Ambassador to Sofia Aylin Eightkök and Bulgarian Minister of Transport and Communications Hristo Aleksiev.

TCDD General Manager Hasan Pezük also met with Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Krasimir Papukchiyski and held talks on further strengthening the logistics cooperation between the two countries.

TCDD General Manager Hasan Pezük and his entourage also examined the Intermodal Terminal area in Filebede. The delegation met with Bulgarian Railways Infrastructure General Manager Zlatin Krumov on the second and last day of the visit. At the meeting, the opening of the second border crossing, which is planned to be established between the two countries, and the initiation of work on the double line transportation between Kapikule-Svilengrad were discussed. The steps to be taken to accelerate the logistics operations between Turkey and Bulgaria were discussed. TCDD General Manager Hasan Pezük signed a protocol with Bulgarian Railways Infrastructure General Manager Zlatin Krumov to further Turkey-Bulgaria cooperation.

TCDD General Manager Hasan Pezük thanked his Bulgarian colleague for his kind hosting and wished that the work done would be beneficial for both countries.
