There is neither a technical nor a bureaucratic deficiency in Mersin's Metro Project

The 3rd Joining Meeting of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Council in November was held under the chairmanship of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Vahap Seçer. In his speech at the meeting, Seçer said, “There is no technical or bureaucratic defect in the metro project.”

“There will be no parking problem in Mersin center”

Noting that they also considered the ground condition in their revision of the parking lot in the Nüzhetiye District of Akdeniz district at the Assembly Meeting, Seçer said, “We have seen that the construction of a 2-storey 400-car parking lot is sufficient and appropriate. This is the discretion of the administration. Also, this place was not allocated to us by the National Estate. This was already a designated area of the municipality. We just wanted a change of status. National Real Estate also gave a public property to a public institution in return for a certain rent," he said.

Stating that the parking lots in the subway construction project will also be a solution to this problem in the city center, Seçer said, “We have 11 stations in total in the subway construction. In 11 of these 6 stations, there will already be parking lots for a total of 2 vehicles. These parking lots will also contribute to the solution of the problem.”

“There is no technical or bureaucratic defect in the metro project”

President Seçer, on the subject of Metro construction at the Assembly Meeting, said, “This Metro construction will end eventually. It ends with a year delay, it ends with a delay of 2 years, but it ends. This is a necessary project for Mersin. Let's get our rights from the Central Government. If Mersin pays taxes in the 5th place and sends money to the state's budget, it should be allocated to Mersin as much as the budget allocated to other provinces. Noting that they have no technical or bureaucratic deficiencies in the metro project, Seçer stated that delaying the signature is not correct, citing these reasons.

Pointing out that the Highways did the sinkings in many cities, but the Highways in Mersin made one sunk, Seçer said, “We, as a municipality, are about to finish the 1th sunk output. We took one half delivery, we finished it. We finished 4 of them and put them into service. We will put one into service this weekend at the most, or next weekend, if you didn't know. We have already opened a part of it. Why don't you do Highways? Why don't you build the Taşucu Çeşmeli Link Road? We may have different political views, but our common denominator should be Mersin.”
