Metro Will Not Stop At Şişhane and Taksim Stations From 15.00 Today

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) announced that vehicles will not stop at Şişhane and Taksim stations of Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line, starting from 15.00, with the decision of the Istanbul Governor's Office.

In the statement made by Metro Istanbul, “As of 15.00, as per the decision of the Governorship of Istanbul, Şişhane and Taksim stations of our M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman Metro Line and F1 Taksim-Kabataş Our Funicular Line will be closed for operation. Our vehicles will not stop at our Şişhane and Taksim stations.” it was said.

Police barricades were set up in Taksim Square and Sıraselviler Street before the November 25 protests in Taksim, where women called for the Day of Elimination of Violence Against Women. Barricades were stacked in certain parts of Şişhane metro and Taksim.

After the Beyoğlu District Governorate announced that actions and events would not be allowed, the 25 November Women's Platform said, "We do not want permission, we want a life without violence."

The women said, “As every year, we come together on 25 November at 19.00 in Taksim Tünel.”
