First Rail Welding of Bakırköy Kirazlı Metro Line Has Been Made

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made the first rail welding of Bakırköy-Bahçelievler-Güngören-Bağcılar (Kirazlı) Metro line. Noting that 78 percent progress has been made in the metro line project, Karaismailoğlu said that the line will serve the residents of Istanbul with a capacity of 80 million passengers per day at a speed of 1 kilometers per hour. Underlining that with the commissioning of the line in the second half of 2023, the travel time between Kayaşehir and Bakırköy coast will decrease to 39 minutes, Karaismailoğlu emphasized that the 25-year total economic gain will be 1,2 billion dollars.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu attended the First Rail Welding Ceremony of Bakırköy-Bahçelievler-Güngören-Bağcılar (Kirazlı) Metro Line. Speaking at the ceremony, Karaismailoğlu stated that they built investment, employment, production, tourism, trade and infrastructure with a total service understanding of Turkey, regardless of east, west, north or south.

Karaismailoğlu, who stated that they are building investments that will meet the needs of the future in the most accurate way with 5 thousand colleagues at nearly 700 thousand construction sites throughout Turkey, said, “While the whole world is struggling with crises, Turkey continues to increase its investments. We continue to blow a storm of service and work. As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, even the months of October and November have been a period in which we have opened very large and important transportation projects. We first opened our Pendik-Sabiha Gökçen Airport Metro Line on October 2. Next; Çanakkale Ayvacık-Küçükkuyu Road and Assos-Troya Tunnels, Malatya-Hekimhan Road Diyarbakır Ring Road, Bitlis Ring Road, Bandırma Junction and Connection Roads, Gaziantep GAZİRAY, Yeni Yusufeli connection roads, 56 tunnels and 39 bridge viaducts with a length of 21 kilometers and finally This weekend, we opened the Egiste Hadimi Viaduct, which is the highest viaduct of our country, with the participation of our President. We will open the 70-kilometer-long Ağrı Hamur Tutak Patnos divided road on Thursday and the Şanlıurfa ring road on Saturday to the service of our citizens," he said.

WE ARE DOING A POLITICS OF SERVICE AND WORKS, NOT A POLITICS OF PERCEPTION LIKE ANYONE

Emphasizing that they left behind a very important stage by holding the first rail welding ceremony of the Bakırköy-Bahçelievler-Güngören-Kirazlı Metro project in Istanbul, Karaismailoğlu said that they brought together Istanbul, one of the most important metropolises of the world, with giant works of art. Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said, “Until now; Marmaray, Eurasia Tunnel, Istanbul Airport, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and Northern Marmara Highway, Osmangazi Bridge, Istanbul-Ankara HT Line, Camlica Tower and Pendik-Sabiha Gökçen Airport Subway with giant projects such as a rail system network of 270 kilometers. We took it to a different point. Of course, we will not be satisfied with these. It is not possible to slow down our projects and investments that will carry Istanbul to the future. There is no stopping, we have the principle of moving forward. Because, like some people, we do not do a politics of perception, but a politics of service and work.”

WE ARE EQUIPPING ISTANBUL WITH MODERN RAIL SYSTEM NETWORKS TOTALLY

Emphasizing that, as the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, they have implemented the world's most original and modern urban rail system projects in Istanbul, Karaismailoğlu said that Istanbul keeps its children from every city in Turkey alive. “They get jobs, they get food. Of course, the population and the number of vehicles are also increasing; The traffic problem is also increasing. Karaismailoğlu said that the most effective way to eliminate traffic congestion is undoubtedly to expand public transportation and rail systems, and said that they have equipped Istanbul with modern rail system networks.

Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, underlined that the length of the rail systems offered to the public in Istanbul, together with the Pendik-Sabiha Gökçen Airport line, reached 270 kilometers and continued his speech as follows:

“As of the moment in Istanbul; Gayrettepe-Kağıthane-Eyüp-Istanbul Airport Metro Line, Küçükçekmece Halkalı- Başakşehir-Arnavutköy-Istanbul Airport Metro line, Altunizade-Ferah Mahallesi-Çamlıca -Bosnia Boulevard Rail System line, Başakşehir-Çam Sakura City Hospital - Kayaşehir Metro Line, Kazlıçeşme-Sirkeci Rail System and Pedestrian Focused New Generation Transportation Project and Bakırköy starting from the coast. We continue our work on a 96/6 basis on 7 lines with a length of 24 kilometers, including the Bahçelievler, Güngören, Bağcılar, Kirazlı Metro Line Project. When our ongoing projects are completed, we will increase Istanbul's rail system network to 363 kilometers. As the life of our nation, the people of Istanbul, becomes easier and comfort increases, so does our excitement; Our love of service also multiplies. We will also continue our efforts to encourage urban mobility in Istanbul and direct our people to active mobility, public transportation and smart transportation solutions.”

78 PERCENT PROGRESS ON THE PROJECT

Noting that they left behind a very important stage in the project by starting the rail welding of our Bakırköy-Bağcılar Kirazlı Metro line, Karaismailoğlu said, “Although we work in the most challenging conditions in terms of engineering, in the districts where the population is densely populated, we have completed all of our tunnel excavations and most of our reinforced concrete manufacturing while protecting the environment. On May 7, when we finished our tunnel excavations, we met with you and shared our work. Since then, we have made great progress. We continued our work rapidly and our total progress rate reached 78 percent throughout the project. No one should doubt that we are continuing our work by fulfilling all engineering requirements on a 7 days and 24 hours basis in order to finish this metro line, which will provide a more comfortable and safe transportation alternative to our citizens. We will put our line into service in the second half of 2023.”

TOTAL ECONOMIC GAINS WILL BE 1,2 BILLION DOLLARS

Underlining that the Bakırköy-Kirazlı Metro line, which has 7 stations, is 8,4 kilometers long, Karaismailoğlu said that these stations are Bakırköy Sahil, Liberty Square, İncirli, Haznedar, İlkyuva, Yıldıztepe, Molla Gürani. Pointing out that the line will serve Istanbul residents with a capacity of 80 million passengers per day at a speed of 1 kilometers per hour, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Karaismailoğlu continued his statement as follows:

“With the commissioning of the line, the travel time between Kayaşehir and Bakırköy will be 39 minutes, travel time between Çam and Sakura City Hospital - İncirli will be 31 minutes, travel time between Kayaşehir and Kirazlı will be 27 minutes, travel time between Başakşehir Metrokent and Bakırköy Freedom Square will be 30 minutes. In the 25-year projection of our Bakırköy-Bağcılar Kirazlı Metro Line; The revenue from highway maintenance and operation will be 536 million dollars, the profit from the prevention of traffic accidents will be 16.1 million dollars, and the time savings will be $ 689.9 million, totaling 1,2 billion dollars. Even this economic gain is the best indicator of who is actually working for Istanbul. Our nation already knows 'the one who brings the water and the one who breaks the jug' very well.”

Emphasizing that after the Pendik-Sabiha Gökçen line, now Kağıthane-Istanbul Airport and Başakşehir- Kayaşehir Metro lines are next, Karaismailoğlu said that with 120 kilometers per hour, Turkey's fastest metro and will be one of the world's leading metro lines, 37,5 kilometers long Beşiktaş (Gayrettepe)- Kağıthane. He stated that they have completed the construction of the Kağıthane-Airport section of the Eyüp- Istanbul Airport Subway.
