The Fire Control System of the Altay Main Battle Tank is in Final Tests!

The qualification activities of the Volkan-II tank fire control system, developed by ASELSAN for the Altay main battle tank, will be completed by the end of 2022. The development was shared at the Land Systems Seminar, which was held for the fifth time this year. VOLKAN-II is the most up-to-date and advanced tank fire control system based on ASELSAN's more than 20 years of experience in the industry. The system has been optimized to keep the effectiveness at the maximum level in the war environment by providing high resolution images as well as superior hitting power.

Some features that make VOLKAN-II superior:

• Updated day/night panoramic viewing and aiming units
• New electric gun and turret stabilization system
• New generation processors and increased processing power
• New generation sensors
• Advanced user interfaces
• Flexible architecture
• Capabilities that can be increased by integration with other tank systems
• Increased local rate

Volkan-M Fire Control System

The fire control system integrated and tested in M60TM tanks has the name Volkan-M. In the documents shared by ASELSAN, the designation "M60 Tank Fire Control System" was used. ASELSAN had integrated the Volkan fire control system into Leopard 2003 tanks between 2009 and 1. It can be considered that ASELSAN has gathered the naming of fire control systems, which it has been developing continuously, under the main title of “Volkan”.
