However, the project could not be completed in 2011 as calculated. The project completion date was updated within the scope of the Presidential 2011 Investment Program. The completion date of the project was withdrawn to 2013 and the project amount was increased to 2 billion 212 million 895 thousand TL. The project could not be completed in 2013 and was delayed once again. While the cost of the project was increased to 2013 billion 2 million TL in 486, the year of completion was updated as 2015. The total railway line length in the project was reduced from 455 kilometers to 393 kilometers. In 2015, the Ankara-Sivas Railway Project, which returned to the snake story, was changed once again. While the cost of the project was increased to 2 billion 793 million TL, the year of completion was withdrawn to 2018 this time.

In 2018, there was a jump in the cost of the project. According to the Presidency Investment Program for 2018, the cost of the project was increased to 9 billion 749 million TL. The project is reported to be completed in 2019. It was not implemented in 2019. With the update made in 2019, the cost of the project, which was used as an election promise by the government, was calculated as 13 billion 172 million TL. The completion year of the project has been determined as 2020 this time.

The cost of the project, marked by foresight, continued to increase in 2020, 2021 and 2022. The cost increase in the project, the completion date of which was postponed until 2024, in the period of 2020-2022 is listed as follows:
