The Chinese naval fleet returned to the port city of Zhoustan, in the Eastern provinces of Zhejiang, on Tuesday, November 15, after completing its mission of escorting civilian ships to the Gulf of Aden and off the coast of Somalia.

The 41st squadron of the People's Liberation Army Navy, consisting of the Suzhou destroyer equipped with missiles, the Nantong frigate also armed with rockets, and the reinforcement ship Chaohu, escorted 38 Chinese and foreign civilian ships within the framework of this mission. The squadron departed from Zhoushan on 18 May.

During the 182 days of the expedition, the fleet sailed 90 nautical miles without stopping at any other port. Since December 2008, China has begun to escort military ships to carry out operations when necessary to protect civilian ships sailing in the Gulf of Aden and off Somalia.
