The “Pedal Against Violence” event organized by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality was completed between Konak Pier and Gündoğdu Square. Neptün Soyer, Chairman of İzmir Village Coop Union, also pedaled.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Fancy Women's Cycling Society organized the "Pedal Against Violence" event as part of the 25 November International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Women who want to raise awareness pedaled from Konak Pier to Alsancak Gündoğdu Square. Neptün Soyer, Chairman of İzmir Village Coop Union Board of Directors, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Gender Equality Commission and İzmir City Council President Nilay Kökkılınç, Fancy Women's Cycling Club Founder Sema Gür and many İzmir women used bicycles at the event.

“We are against all forms of violence”

Neptün Soyer said, “We can pedal every year. We pedal every day. Cycling is a tool for people who use bicycles to raise awareness. But we didn't just turn the pedal as women. If you pay attention, we see that violence against women is actually a social problem and that we have to fight together, men and women. In fact, we are on it 365 days a year. Today we got together a little more with our friends. We said we are against all forms of violence.”

Stating that women and men should fight against violence together, Nilay Kökkılınç said, “We see that the penalties are not a deterrent. Other measures need to be taken to combat violence. Today, we wanted to draw attention by pedaling with our non-governmental organizations”. Sema Gür said, “We say that if a woman goes out on the street, the world will change. That's why we're on the streets. "We are against all forms of violence," he said.
