Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Makes People Smile With Home Care Service

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality does not leave anyone alone in the city. Home care teams consisting of sociologists, psychologists, caregivers, hairdressers and cleaning staff support the sick, elderly and orphans. Those who benefit from the service express their satisfaction.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality's home care service has established a throne in the hearts. With its 96-person team, the Metropolitan Municipality helps the elderly, sick and disabled. The aim is for no one to feel alone and helpless in Izmir.

Stating that they knocked on the door of people who lived within the borders of Izmir and applied for service or were notified, Dr. Sertaç Dölek said, “People who are poor, deprived, homeless, bedridden, sick, and needy people who cannot afford their own work can reach us. You can reach us by phone via HİM. Our social review team, consisting of a sociologist, social worker and home care staff, visits the applicant at home to determine their needs. Our 20 teams providing personal care services with 8 vehicles every day, 6 teams providing home cleaning services, 2 psychologists providing psychological support services, 2 technical personnel providing minor repair services, and physiotherapist providing physical activity support are on their way to the designated addresses.

2020 thousand home care services have been provided since 43

Sertaç Dölek emphasized that they continued their service without interruption during the COVID-19 global epidemic, and continued as follows: “We increased the home care service from 2020 thousand in 14 to 2021 thousand in 19. In the first 2022 months of 9, we reached 10 thousand. We have provided home care services 2020 thousand times since 43. No matter where you are in the city from Beydağ to Karaburun, we are with you whenever you need help.”

I have been living in Izmir for 50 years, I have never seen such service.

Hüseyin Adult, 72, residing in the Çamlıkule District of Buca, said, “We applied to the Metropolitan Municipality. I did not know that they provided this service, I learned through a friend. I'm home alone, I don't have a leg. May Allah be pleased with them, they come from the teams to clean my house, have my bath, and cut my hair and beard. I've been living in Izmir for 50 years and have never seen such a service. It is necessary to sit crookedly and speak correctly, I have not seen such service before Tunç President.”

Both physical therapy and faucet repair

Emine Kosva, who had a stroke about a year ago, said: “I was completely bedridden. My doctor prescribed physical therapy. As a result of the efforts of physiotherapists, I am now able to walk alone gradually. God bless you. My body is renewed, it's getting better. I am very pleased,” she said. Halit Kosva, wife of Emine Kosva, also expressed her satisfaction with the service and said, “Our Mayor Tunç SoyerWe are grateful to and his team. The teams came for my wife's physical therapy, but when they saw the deficiencies in the house, they also intervened. Thank you very much,” he said.

Our worlds go dark if they don't knock on our door

Sultan Özcan, whose wife is bedridden, said, “May Allah be pleased with all the teams and those who provide this service. My patient's nails are being cut. They're taking a shower. We are so pleased. He who is ungrateful becomes blind. Without you, we are devastated. My daughter cannot carry it. We can't let strangers into our house. A new service has been started. Our fountain is broken. The worlds became ours. We are old and we can't. If they don't knock on our door, our world will go dark," he said.

There is also minor repair support

Within the scope of the service, personal care, house cleaning, minor repair support, physical activity and psychological support services are provided. Teams of social workers, psychologists, caregivers, cleaning staff, technical staff, physiotherapists and barbers contact families who do not have household goods to purchase household goods. When necessary, they distribute food packages to the houses they visit.
