The Istanbul leg of the Earthquake Crash-Trap-Hold and Evacuation Exercise was held.

The exercise, which was organized in cooperation with our Ministry AFAD and the Ministry of Youth and Sports KYK General Directorate within the scope of the Disaster Exercise Year 2022, was held at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Boys' Dormitory in Davutpaşa.

Governor of Istanbul Ali Yerlikaya, our Minister in Ankara, Mr. Süleyman Soylu and the Minister of Youth and Sports Muharrem Kasapoğlu were connected to the exercise by teleconference.

While alarm bells were ringing on the dormitory campus after the live broadcast, Governor Yerlikaya and the accompanying protocol members performed the "Collapse-Track-Hold" application at their location.

After the evacuation alarm, Governor Yerlikaya and the students staying in the dormitory buildings gathered in the earthquake assembly area.

Addressing the students here, Governor Yerlikaya said that they successfully carried out the exercise with the students in 6 blocks.

İzmir

The exercise was held at Ege University Zübeyde Hanım Student-Girl Dormitory.

İzmir Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger, in Ankara, our Minister Mr. Süleyman Soylu and Minister of Youth and Sports Muharrem Kasapoğlu attended the exercise by teleconference.

Köşger stated that 19 thousand personnel and students were given basic disaster training in 28 dormitories in İzmir.

Muğla

After the sirens sounded from AFAD vehicles in Turgutreis Girls' and Boys' Dormitories, the students who stayed in the dormitory applied the "collapse, grab and hold" method, and then came together in the assembly area in the garden of the dormitory.

4 students, who were injured as per the scenario, were handed over to 112 Emergency Health teams after their first interventions were made by UMKE teams and they were moved to the safe area.

AFAD and firefighters evacuated students trapped in the building using ropes and ladders.

Central Anatolia

In Nevşehir, Kırıkkale, Niğde, Sivas and Yozgat, “earthquake moment and evacuation drills” were held in student dormitories affiliated to the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Approximately 900 students and officials participated in the exercise in Nevşehir KYK Girls' Dormitory.

Deputy Governor Mehmet Miraç Topaloğlu, Provincial Director of AFAD Mahmut Coşkun and Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Hamza Güneş were also present at the exercise held in Kırıkkale Hatice Hanım Girls' Dormitory.

During the exercise held in Yıldız Girls' Dormitory on Binali Yıldırım Campus on Sivas Cumhuriyet University campus, an earthquake occurred as per the scenario while Governor Yılmaz Şimşek was in the library with the students.

In the earthquake drill held in 18 student dormitories affiliated to the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Yozgat, the “crash-snap-hold” method was applied with the sound of a siren, and the buildings were evacuated.
