Even Unborn Child Is Born in Debt Due to Adana Metro

Adana Light Rail System (AHRS), which has become Adana's bleeding wound, once again moved to the agenda of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). Republican People's Party (CHP) Adana Deputy Dr. Müzeyyen Şevkin cried out once again in the parliament and demanded that Adana be stopped from being seen as a stepchild.

The debt is multiplied!

Addressing the government, Müzeyyen Şevkin from CHP stated that “Adana Light Rail System Project, which started to be built in 1996, cost 535 million dollars, but today it has a debt of 1 billion 200 million liras.

“This debt is multiplied by interest. Even the unborn child is born in debt because of the subway in Adana,” said Dr. Sevkin said:

“Despite the President's promise in every election period, Adana Light Rail System was not handed over to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. In addition, the second stage rail system feasibility study was submitted to the approval of the President 3 times, but for some reason the second stage is not approved either. Now the 4th application has been made. Why do you ignore a system that loses millions of lira every day? Why do you allow the people of Adana, the resources of the public, to be wasted? Keep your word. Let the Adana metro be transferred to the ministry, let the second stage project prepared for it to become efficient, be approved and the construction begin as soon as possible. Enough! Now relieve the people of Adana from this burden.”
