The “Cooperation Protocol for Improving Traffic Awareness in Families” was signed between the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Interior. The "Cooperation Protocol for Improving Traffic Awareness in Families" between the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Interior, in order to teach the definition of traffic, its rules, the importance of traffic safety, the roles of people in traffic and communication, was signed by Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer and Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu.

Speaking at the signing ceremony held at the General Directorate of Security, Minister Mahmut Özer reminded that the Ministry of National Education does not only provide education to children in the education age population, and noted that in the last twenty years, under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkey has reached the stage of massification in education. Özer said, “We have a huge education system with 19 million students and 1.2 million teachers. The competitiveness of our country continues to increase day by day due to access to this education system. As the Ministry of National Education, we continue to work day and night with all our colleagues to increase access by focusing on equality of opportunity in education in order to increase this competitiveness.” used his statements.

“We provide more than three thousand courses to adults through the Public Education Center”

“As the Ministry of National Education, we also have an adult education area, the General Directorate of Lifelong Learning.” Minister Özer said that in this context, in approximately one thousand public education centers, citizens and adults, that is, those outside the education age population, are provided with more than three thousand courses in order to provide any kind of education they want free of charge.

Özer continued as follows: “In order to increase the quality of human capital, which is the most permanent capital of our country, we continue to provide education day and night to both the education age population and the adults outside the education age population. Our goal in 2022 was to reach one million citizens every month. Normally, four or five million of our citizens were reached through public education centers every year. This year, we set the target very high and set the target to reach one million citizens per month and to provide education services. By the end of the tenth month, we see that we have reached ten and a half million citizens. 60 percent of our ten and a half million citizens are women. As the Ministry, we continue to support and offer mechanisms that will strengthen your women with trainings that will strengthen their employment capabilities.”

Expressing that a new expansion was made in the last July – August among the services offered to the citizens, Özer said; He said that a forty-four-hour training package has been created, focusing on the family, reminding families of our cultural values, supporting family communication and psychosocial development, as well as developing environmental awareness and first aid awareness, and controlling the development processes of children regarding substance addictions. Özer said, “On August 18, 2021, under the auspices of Ms. Emine Erdoğan, we started our Family School project in 81 provinces from Istanbul. Our goal was to reach one million families by the end of the year and to benefit one million of them from the family school project. As of today, we have reached approximately five hundred and fifty thousand families and by the end of the year, hopefully, we will increase this number to one million. We aim to reach two and a half million families in 2023.” he said.

Özer emphasized that as the Ministry, they will always stand by the families in order to continuously support the family, which is the core of every society, against global challenges and to increase their sensitivity and awareness against threats.

“We are taking a new step of cooperation by adding the traffic information module to the Family School”

Pointing out that they always provide extensive cooperation and support with the Ministry of Interior, Özer said, “Now, by adding an additional traffic information module to the 'Family School' here today, we will have taken the step of cooperation again. Thus, all our parents and adults who have completed the 'Family School' will also have completed the training module on traffic awareness.” said.

Noting that the roads will become much safer thanks to the trainings, Özer continued his words as follows:

“We will provide partial support to our Ministry of Internal Affairs in order to become a country with much less losses, much more prosperous, and much healthier traffic. Hopefully, we will have the opportunity to reach almost all parents and all families as we expand the education on traffic awareness that we will put into this family school. One of the most beautiful points here is, once again, with the honor of our President, we opened two thousand village life centers together with our Minister of Interior and Minister of Agriculture and Forestry. The best part of that project is that there are not only kindergartens and primary schools in the village life centers, but also public education centers. Therefore, these family schools will be put at the service of our citizens up to the villages and the most remote points. We will continuously strengthen our families with additional modules every day. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Minister for the support he has given us not only in this process, but also in all previous processes. I would like to thank all the friends from both ministries who contributed to the development of this module. I wish the cooperation protocol to be beneficial, and I present my love and respect to all of you.”

“We set the goal of reaching the level of developed countries in terms of traffic”

In his speech, Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu said that within the scope of the project for immigrant families, social cohesion training was given to 1 million 300 thousand people and to more than 5 million people through trainings held with all ministries. Soylu pointed out that despite the increase in the number of vehicles and population, the number of deaths in traffic accidents started to decrease, and that six and a half million people were reached within the scope of traffic trainings given by the Ministry.

Emphasizing that the number of people trained in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education is higher, Soylu said, “Within the scope of the protocol we will implement, on the one hand, the children we reach, the families we will reach on the one hand, and the climate in the struggle with the traffic we will achieve on the other hand will bring results. Our goal is to reduce the number of deaths in traffic accidents from 100 per 9,6 thousand to 100 per 5 thousand.” used the phrase.

After the speeches, Ministers Özer and Soylu signed the cooperation protocol.
