In the operation carried out at a workplace in the Küçükçekmece district of Istanbul, 624 pieces and belongings of wild animals under protection were seized.
The 1st Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry received a notice regarding the act of "possession of illegal animals". Evaluating the report, the teams went to a workplace in Küçükçekmece together with the teams of the Istanbul Provincial Security Directorate Anti-Smuggling Crimes Branch. In the search made here with the permission of the prosecutor's office, 624 pieces of many protected wild animals were found.
Among the items seized were flamingo, marten, mallard duck, griffon vulture, wild goose, vervet monkey embalming, pig teeth, small crocodile skin, caretta caretta turtle shell, python snakes skin. Also, wolf, lynx, leopard, red deer, baby brown bear and fox skins were found. It was determined that chandeliers and chairs were made from some hides and horns, and bags were made from animal skins.
The seized 624 pieces were taken under protection by the teams of the 1st Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
In addition to the administrative fine as per the relevant article of the Land Hunting Law, the teams of the 1st Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry decided to impose an additional fine for each species based on the "destruction and decrease in wildlife and ecosystem".
